In thinking these people are twats

FB related - I know I know.

Young, trendy, London type people I went to school with posting pictures of their trendy London night out. They have obviously stopped to chat with a couple of homeless men, one playing a guitar and taken pictures of them all singing along. And then pictures of the second man, who has wet himself. Cue comments from all of them about how hilarious it is and gross.

Aibu to think that is just awful behaviour and think its disgusting to humiliate this man.

Nothing wrong with the first part.

Second part yes that's mean. I wouldn't do it.

greeneyed · 26/01/2013 22:50

How old are they?

manicinsomniac · 26/01/2013 22:50

Agree with Dom - first photo fine, second photo way over the line.

Nothing wrong at all with the first pic

Everything wrong with the second

By the way, not all buskers are homeless...some are seeing their way through Uni etc.

pickledparsnip · 26/01/2013 22:52

Massive twats. I'd be defriending for sure.

AnneNonimous · 26/01/2013 22:54

Sorry it wasn't the first pic I thought was twattish - just the ones of the man who had pissed himself.

worra I know, my good friend is a busker. The blankets/sleeping bags in the doorway are what gave it away.

greeneyed early 20s

The blankets/sleeping bags could well be to keep him warm while he's putting in a long day busking.

We'll never know, but even if he is homeless that doesn't mean the pic was wrong.

The second pic obviously was.

AnneNonimous · 26/01/2013 23:01

I don't think the first picture was I was setting the scene.

Cruel and a horrible thing to do

Spero · 26/01/2013 23:07

remove them as friends, but first, tell them why.

Wereonourway · 26/01/2013 23:09

Agree with pp, I'd remove them and tell them why.

Twat is too kind a word for them

greeneyed · 26/01/2013 23:14

Twattish, but they are still quite young (and foolish) over 25 would definately have been a sacking offence _ are they the type to be rude to or humiliate waiting staff whilst they are out?

Spero · 26/01/2013 23:16

my daughter is 8. She would know not to do that.

Horrible, how humiliating for the second person.
I'm not comfortable with the first either TBH, what do young trendy Londoners have in common with the homeless, unless they want to video it to make themselves feel better.
Patronising bastards.

Spero · 26/01/2013 23:24

First is potentially patronising but if all participants were up for it, fair enough.

The second reveals them as heartless twats, lacking in any compassion, any ability to see others as human. They are either rotten to the core or had extremely poor parenting.

quoteunquote · 26/01/2013 23:24

Quote John Bradford at them,

'there, but for the grace of God go I'

and ask them how many wage packets they would have to miss to be homeless.

It is a good way to get a measure of someone, look at how they treat the vulnerable in society , I wouldn't want these people for friends.

Seven billion people on the planet, plenty of nice ones to put energy into.

Spero · 26/01/2013 23:33

Also quote Elie Wiesel at them - they won't understand but hey
'We must not see any person as an abstraction. Instead we must see every person as a universe with its own secrets, its own treasures, with its own sources of anguish and with some measures of triumph'

pictish · 26/01/2013 23:36

Yanbu. I think that's awful. I can't imagine ever doing something like that.
No class at all.

BloodyReallyMadmMolar · 26/01/2013 23:36

FB IMHO is stupidity in the extreme

GlitterySkulls · 27/01/2013 00:14

that's just horrible to do that- imho you'd have to be one vile fucking cunt to find that amusing.

i'd tell them what nasty fuckers they were, under the photo for everyone to see.

Icelollycraving · 27/01/2013 03:53

I would be adding a comment telling them just how horrible that was. Poor sod. When someone points it out I think they will be defensive but secretly ashamed.
