to sit and cry over my cake?

Disclaimer: I'm pregnant and cake makes me happy.

My little bugger of a child DC2 who is 3yrs old bloody snuck downstairs this morning and stole my chocolate cake out of the fridge, he took a chair and stole it from the top shelf , opened the cutlery drawer (child locked) and got himself a spoon then hid all the evidence after he had finished under the sofa, quite clever except he had chocolate around his mouth , left the fridge open, drawer open and cchair next to the fridge.

Pissed off as his dad stayed last night in the front room and he didn't hear or see a thing.

Have no spare money for more chocolate cake as on a tight budget this week, cake had already been shared with DCs but had left myself a nice chunk as a treat .

Was running late as well this morning so no time to tell him off as needed to get him to preschool.

AIBU to sit and cry over my lack of chocolate cake?

Wow. That's an intelligent three year old you have there! Grin

But YANBU to mourn the loss of your cake.

Too clever for his own good at the moment, worked out how to unlock the front door the other day too.

Sounds like a very dangerous situation tbh

You'll need to fit high bolts to the doors.

Imnotaslimjim · 25/01/2013 09:07

I would be in a state of mourning if I had chocolate cake stolen like that!

As to the stealing though, I would keep the evidence and ask him about it when you get him home - if he's clever enough to get a chair AND figure out a child lock, then I'm sure he'll remember having done it a few hours later, and you can explain that its not behaviour you expect

lulu2 · 25/01/2013 09:09

Are you sure it wasn't his dad who ate it? Seems too much of a coincidence that the evidence was under the very sofa he was sleeping on.

Nope dad was fast asleep and he doesn't eat chocolate neither, plus my DC was wearing my cake so definitely him, your right skull candy definitely evil genius potential.

I just want my chocolate cake however I just remembered I ordered some homemade chocolate cookies and a chocolate cheesecake of my baker friend so will hopefully be delivered today, although tempted to hide such goodies in a mini fridge in my room and not share these with DCs.

I'd be gutted. Possibly some sort of door activated sound recording in the fridge saying 'it is MY cake and I will track you down'. Channel Voldemort.

Too much? I've got flu, I'm not really rational today.

Here's a recipe for a chocolate cake you can make in a mug in the microwave. Keep the ingredients handy and you'll never go without again.

Tell your Ex that there is a charge for his overnight sofa stay - he has to go out and buy you chocolate cake. Interest, in the form of more chocolate, will be added if he fails to pay up!

Surely stealing pregnant Mum's chocolate cake is grounds for giving serious consideration to adoption isn't it?!

Your sneaky child has made me smile. We have a dog who managed to steal all the chocolate truffles which were inside a bag in my handbag, without leaving any evidence..... the empty bag was still inside my handbag. I spent half an hour scratching my head, emptying handbag and searching in car to try to find said truffles. I couldn't understand how they had just vanished into thin air. I then inspected the empty truffle bag a little closer and found tiny little black dog hairs inside the bag!!
