to love DS' class and teachers?!

DS is 4 almost 5 and in reception. The nursery is split from his class but they have an open plan kind of thing with the second class and open the nursery to everyone to mingle too (I love how the EYFS works). So many parents make an effort to turn up on days we're invited in, they ALL seem lovely. All the kids are great and they all seem to have a really good time and get along. We've had a few problem with DS' behaviour and a bit of miscommunication between me and the teachers (they job share so never easy). Been in yesterday for a char and arranged a meeting next week to iron out a few issues. I really feel that we're on the same page as far as DS is concerned. They all seem to really care about the kids, are always very smiley and happy.

So my point, you ask?

I am constantly hearing and reading (in all aspects of my life) bitching and moaning about schools/teachers. I know they are only human and some will be horrid (I had a few when in school) but surely, if you handing your precious bundles over to these people for 6+ hours a day, five days a week it is not better to have a good, open, working relationship with them? These teachers are helping to raise my son, the last thing I want to do is alienate them. so AIBU to feel so positive about it?

Not just on MN and not a Fred about a Fred I gotta say Grin kicked off yesterday with several parents stood outside class moaning about kids playing out in the snow but I KNOW these same people were sledging and building snowmen with them the day before!

YANBU (that autocorrects to hamburger btw!) to feel positive about your ds's first few months at school, long may it last!
However, YABVU to criticise others experiences. I have had several less than good experiences with my dc schools due to poor teaching, bullying etc, and have found fantastic support here. I'm a little sad to think that some people might see me as moaning and bitching about it, and alienating my dc teachers.

Please don't think thats what I was doing, I wouldn't dream of belittling any form of bullying or poor teaching. I'm sorry if it came across that way, genuinely. I suffered horrendously from a teacher in high school and because of who he was NOTHING got done about it. I'm glad you've found the support here and I would like to think I would supportive anyone going through similar.

I'm thinking more about genuine moaning, when nothing is really happening. I know a fair few people in other schools/classes who never have anything positive to say about the school their dcs attend. There are really shit teachers out there and situations that are horrendous for kids and parents to go through, but if everything's ok, why be so down beat about it? Y'know? Feel like a twat now Blush its more comments to me the last few weeks. They can't see we are very lucky to have good teachers and kids in the class its sad when things could be so different
