To not take my dcs to school today?

I have 3 dcs. Dd in yr 2, ds and dd both in nursery. I am really poorly, feel like I have flu - hot, cold, shakey, achey etc. I woke up this morning and had a panic attack about how I was going to get them to school.
I had to calm myself down so simply decided they won't be going today. I seriously could not manage the half an hour walk there and back.
However now I feel so bloody guilty, AIBU?

You are ill, you can't get them to school. Why feel guilty?

armani · 21/01/2013 13:01

Thanks Valium. I just feel bad that they are cooped up in the house when they could be at school enjoying themselves :(

is there anyone else who could take them?

armani · 21/01/2013 13:06

No, my mum has her phone off and dh is working away. I hate feeling this ill, I am laid on the sofa under the quilt whilst dcs are watching DVDs and eating biscuits/ cereal bars.

Your going to be no good to your kids if u add hypothermia or concussion from
Falling over onto that list. You will only make yourself worse.

So yanbu!!

Thanks, starting to feel less guilty now. Not sure what the school are going to make of it though.

I would have dragged them in so I could have had a sick day at home in peace, all on my own!

seekingpeaceandquiet · 21/01/2013 13:21

Im the same as you op, though am 26 weeks pg with horrible sickness not flu.. DD is at home watching Peppa Pig at the minute because I cannot face going outside on the very slippery footpaths feeling like crap.

Dont feel guilty. And hope you feel better soon!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 21/01/2013 13:23

To be honest I doubt they will be doing much. If id have known the trouble Friday was going to be I'd have never have sent dd in. Especially given the fact I got there and she was drawing. It not worth making Urself worse to drag them in so they can watch DVDs and colour all day. Can do that at home :)

manicinsomniac · 21/01/2013 13:24

YANBU though betterwhen has a good point in that if you could have forced yourself to do it then you could have had a day to die quietly in peace! You'd have to go and get them again though so maybe the payoff wouldnt have been worth it.

Nothing wrong with that of course they had a great day but it was a lot of trouble to pick her up and they didn't do much work just had fun. :)
