To wish my DH could go to bloody work!

DH is a landscape gardener and can't work because of the weather.

Which is fine, except he is driving me nuts! The mess! The moaning! The lolling!

Aibu to wish he was at work?

YANBU to wish that he was not messy or moaning. Why is he making mess and moaning? Why can't he enjoy his time off in a way that is pleasant to those around him? Or do something useful around the house?

KatyTheCleaningLady · 21/01/2013 10:45

He's probably really bored!

I wonder if he could call his clients and offer to shovel their drives and paths for a bit of cash and exercise?

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 21/01/2013 10:47

Good idea Katy

Failing that could he take the dc out if you have any for a bit of sledging.

DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 10:48

He has lolled since Friday, but is on a mission to do jobs around the house...which is the mess ( new curtain rail for ds1, oh the mess).

He is bored, and we have discussed clearing drives for a fiver a go! If it gets too bad, I may chuck him out there!

Oh I thought the lolling meant he was laughing out loud

I was all set to say YANBU and perhaps he should see a psychiatrist.

DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 10:53

Ha, worra, if this snow lasts and we are cooped up for much longer, I may have to see a psychiatrist!

I'm enjoying having dp around, means I can put my feet up a bit. He's se though so the lack of money won't be so nice!

Fairylea · 21/01/2013 10:59

I feel your pain.... but... I am in the reverse situation! My dh is the only one who lives close enough to walk to work so so far this week he has done 60 hours and hasn't had a day off :( he is now on another 8-10 shift :(

DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 11:00

Mine is se too. I am trying not to think about the money too...a genuine reason for him to go back to work!

OP posts:
DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 11:00

Oh fairylea, that would grate a bit. Sad

Oh yes. And have very bored 9 year old at home as school shut (and no friends local) and a teething 7 month old. The fun!

(Chocolates welcome).

Sorry to hijack.

DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 11:06

Oh, how similar ( except the DP work thing). I have a bored 7 year old and a booby mad 9 wo!

Nightmare! And MN is sloooooow.

I would love my DH to be at home, he has been in the US since last Monday, and does not get back until next Saturday.

Trying to yank a sledge with a 7 year old on it whist carrying a screaming 3 year at the weekend, brought this into sharp focus.

He may be being annoying but at least he is around.

Iwillorderthefood · 21/01/2013 11:08

Oh and as he travels a lot we really value our time together, but this in part means that we do not have many people that we can call on, we like to do quite a bit as a family when he is about.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 21/01/2013 11:13

Iwillorderthefood My husband is up in Scotland until April. We miss him so much! With the stress of moving house and Christmas, I was getting really grumpy and always thinking about all the things he does "wrong" or how he didn't help out enough. How wrong I was!

DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 11:15

Oh. Sorry to all those without their dps around. I agree that that must be harder.

I feel your pain OP, my husband slashed his hand open at work last wednesday so he's been off work since then and isn't going back until at least sunday.
He really is driving me bonkers, can't do much because of stitches and bandages and he's getting more and more restless..
I think he's annoyed he can't play out in the snow with the kids if I'm honest!

KatyTheCleaningLady · 21/01/2013 11:51

DoItToJulia I wasn't trying to one-up you! Just having a selfish wee pity party is all. Smile

DoItToJulia · 21/01/2013 13:07

It's all good Katy, but I did realise my trivial thread may sting those whose partners are away....Blush
