It could be me though as am on steroids, just had a nebulizer and don't feel well so would that affect the taste?

Not had it in months and it tastes different, has a funny after taste? Hmm

I'm sure it's the steroids ...

I thought that ...when I was pregnant

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/01/2013 22:38

No it's not you, it has changed (but I wouldn't call it rank) Grin. It's a bit waxy

My DD brought me her Christmas bar of Galaxy to go in the croissants for breakfast.
So obviously she doesn't rate it either Grin

BTW the only Rank Chocolate is Chocolate Limes

giraffesCantGoFirstFooting · 20/01/2013 22:42

No wonder it was buy one get one free.

It is not all smooth and melty like it used to be.

I think its changed too. I've gone back to Cadburys family size now.

katykuns · 20/01/2013 22:49

No.. I don't think it tastes the same. Its less creamy, and it seems to be extra sugary, which leaves a slightly strange taste in my mouth afterwards.

gail734 · 20/01/2013 22:50

I think your tastebuds mature. Have you been lolling around eating Godiva and Hotel Chocolat?? My DH bought me a biscuit Boost the other day (romance is not dead) and it was crap. Like 70 said, waxy. I think it's a recession thing. There prob isn't as much actual chocolate in these bars as there used to be. They have to keep them cheap(ish) even as the price of cocoa goes up.

FarrahFawcettsFlick · 20/01/2013 22:56

I call it the crack of chocolate. Sweet sweet brown bar of something not quite chocolate. Cloying - eugh.

discorabbit · 20/01/2013 22:57

it changed years ago, in the 80s it was the creme de la creme of chocolate

now it just tastes powdery

In the name of progress... I vow to buy a bar tomorrow to support/ refute your claim

giraffes Tesco near work did not have galaxy (only massive bar and my hips would not thank me) However, it did have minstrels. Which I can say tasted pretty good to me Grin

expatinscotland · 21/01/2013 20:13

It's waxy. Eeww.

wriggletto · 21/01/2013 20:23

Waxy. Also, new Dairy Milk = claggy and slightly sicky. Sad

hiddenhome · 21/01/2013 22:12

Waxy and sickly means there's too much palm oil being used in it. Terry's chocolate orange has gone the same way Sad

hiddenhome · 21/01/2013 22:14

Palm oil is cheap and very nasty.

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2013 22:16

I can't bear it any more, I've been spoilt by eating Green & Blacks, Lindt, Montezumas etc.

There is so much "gourmet" choc around nowadays that the ordinary stuff tastes pretty rubbish in comparison. Back in the old days that's all we ate.

Mayanbob · 24/01/2013 22:39

I forgot to report back. Conducted a survey. It is gakky and has changed.

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 24/01/2013 22:41

Yes!!!

I had a bar earlier, purchased with great excitement to be enjoyed whilst reclining on the sofa with a nice cup of tea.

It was rank. Unchocolately. Was dissapointed.

Sticking to Cadburys from now on.
