So long story short. My husband left me in October after 5 months of marriage. I am thinking of spending the summer hols travelling the states a little.
My friends and parents are mortified at the idea.
Anyone else done this? Am I being as stupid as I am being made to feel?

Well I guess it depends on your responsibilities at home. If you have school age children and aren't taking them, I think thats unreasonable. If, on the other hand, your departing spouse has left you foot loose and fancy free, then ignore the doubters and go for it. Sounds like it is just what you need. I don't know why they would be mortified to be honest, it sounds like a fantastic plan. What are their objections?
