To be surprised by certain threads getting such a high number of posts?

Sometimes I read a thread and think 'wow, that's so random' then I check back later and it has hundreds of posts.

For example the toilet brush thread. I would never have thought that so many people had an opinion on toilet brushes.

Anyone else remember any surprisingly high posts on a very random topic?

One of my favourites along this line was the discussion when someone complained about Sainsburys stopping the sale of frozen onions. If I recall correctly it went on for pages and pages.

Its so bizarre! It is the most random things that seem to go on forever Grin

Removing shoes inside the house. Every time. Hundreds and hundreds of posts. Bunfights.

Yeah, I still don't get why toilet brushes are such an area of conflict on MN.

Re the toilet brush one - I think any thread where opinions on hygiene are expressed in the OP will bring out every theorist in the world! G'wan - test it. Start one about "AIBU to save used toilet roll and compost it to save clogging up the sewage system" Grin for instance! Dare ya!

I remember a massive thread about the appropriate way to dispose of tampons Hmm

Those who put them in the bathroom bin were cretins Confused

No no no - those who flush are asking for pipe blockages. :)

OP start a thread asking how often people change bedding / shower / bathe / cut nails / trim pubes - actually any thing to do with pubes / change clothes / wash curtains (!) / iron etc etc ... and see what happens.

Hehehe, I might start one later.

AIBU to flush baby wipes down the toilet.

That'll get the hardcores out Grin I will be SCUM!

Cherriesarelovely · 15/01/2013 15:38

PLEASE do it ShellyBobbs!!!

I love an innocuous-sounding thread (eg, AIBU to give my MIL some potted hyacinths as a thank you for catsitting?) that has 400+ responses - it's usually a sign that someone has waded in with a completely random opinion ("YABVVVU! Don't you know hyacinths mean 'you are dead to me' in the Victorian language of flowers? My MIL once gave me some freesias and we haven't spoken since") and it's all kicked off.

Maybe we should do a top ten most random threads ever! Dinner parties are always high posted threads.
