I am not a shoplifter... honest

I was on my way back from my boys Football class at Little Kickers with my 2 little-ones. Thought I would pop into the supermarket on my way home to pick up some vitals!

It was a super quick shop... record time. Imagine SuperMarketSweep. I got home, slung my coat on the bed ready to tackle their dinner... and out of the hood fell the following:

A toothbrush
Electrical Tape
A pack of handysized tissues
...and a chomp!

Now, the kids swear that they did not put them in there. Is this a new type of craze that I should know about.

Please can someone shine some light on this...while I tuck into this chomp ;)

Thank you x

What's a chomp?

My guess if you knocked stuff off the shelf and into your hood inadvertently, or your DC are lying and were playing a game of "toss stuff into mum's hood."

YoSaffBridge · 15/01/2013 14:25

Well, at least 2 of those items will be useful?

I have twice, yes twice, accidentally stolen from my supermarket. DD likes to play with an item in her pushchair while we go around, it keeps her quiet. You would have thought after the first time I accidentally stole some brocolli after going through the self-service tills that I would have remembered to check the pushchair next time. Nope.

SuzieC1979 · 15/01/2013 14:26

a chomp is a what use to be also know as the 10p bar! Its just a chocie bar. hmmmm they are very honest kids...so I believe anyway!

I would give them a ring and let them know and ask how much you owe them.

McNewPants2013 · 15/01/2013 14:27

CHOMP

I bet the the DC put them there

Paiviaso · 15/01/2013 14:29

Ah I see, I've never noticed them before.

Marrow · 15/01/2013 14:31

Don't eat the Chomp. Take it all back and be terribly apologetic.

twinklesparkles · 15/01/2013 14:33

Lol sounds like the kids did it, my ds was terrible when he was a baby. Always found random things hidden behind him in the pram. Eyeliner, teaspoons, foldable bags for life

Strange kid ;)

SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 15/01/2013 14:34

I know there was a craze of putting random things in other peoples trolleys. It might have upgraded to hoods now Grin

Mandy2003 · 15/01/2013 14:51

I was just going to say maybe someone else's kids put them in there!

DS used to steal packaged dummies from Sainsbury's when he was in the buggy (probably less than 2 years old!) - he'd sneak them off the rack and put them in the basket under the buggy seat Smile

WorraLiberty · 15/01/2013 14:54

How old are your kids?

hopeful92 · 15/01/2013 16:11

This made me lol I can just imagine taking off my coat and being like WTF... Hehe, I would probably think it was either teenagers messing about or your DCs being little monkeys :) I wouldnt worry about it, I have nicked some eye shadow by accident before it managed to get caught in the cardboard wrapper of food packaging! Felt a bit bad when I got home!

carabos · 15/01/2013 17:11

I saw a woman shoplift the other day. She was in front of me at the checkout, chatting away to the woman on the till while her husband packed the bags. she unloaded the goods and while she was doing it and distracting the till lady with small talk she hid a mascara in her gloves, then slipped it into her handbag as she got her purse out.

I was a bit Shock, but didn't want to say anything just in case I'd got the wrong end of the stick so kept quiet.

VikingLady · 15/01/2013 20:46

DD is 10m and swiped some hundreds and thousands last week. I wedge the shopping basket on the front of the pushchair and hadn't realised she'd grown enough to reach in...

I found them when I took her coat off at home. I really can't bring myself to go back, explain and pay!

Fakebook · 15/01/2013 20:52

This has happened to me more times than I can remember. I just go back into the shop and give the things back. They normally fall down into the basket of my pushchair so I don't see them. Once we accidently stole a massive 1m roll of drawing paper from toys r us.

MammaTJ · 15/01/2013 21:51

Me and my friends went through a phase of putting random stuff in trolleys while the person was distracted. It was hilarious and very childish to watch them at the checkout. Making them shoplift by hiding things in their pram hoods would not have been as entertaining.
