To bring an old thread back to life

I know it isn't the done thing around here ;-p but you know when you read a post and comment on it and its something that you get quite involved with discussion wise; I often think it would be nice to know why happens?

I know I posted some fairly heavy stuff on here about a year ago and got some amazing advice and support. I remember thinking (as I struggled on and took the very good MN advice) that I should let people know what happened. But how do you do it?
Do you post a thread about a thread and link to it? Or do you re-explain the original issue and then give an update ( personally I think a whole lid of posts like that would be zzzz) or..... Do you revive the old thread with an update of what happened?

Or do you just bugger off and think, nobody hive a monkeys anyway lol

People like updates, especially when they've invested time / emotion in supporting someone.

How about posting a "MyOldSituation: Update" thread with a link in the op for anyone who wants the back story? If you want to :)

Booyhoo · 14/01/2013 03:10

link to the original thread here and then update on this thread Smile

I'm not up to scratch on mn etiquette but I want to know your news!

You could use the same thread title in a new thread and state its an update?

ripsishere · 14/01/2013 04:08

Good idea from every prior to me.
Hopefully your update is positive.

I think that it is fine to update your own thread - in fact nice to have an outcome. I just get irritated when people trawl through and comment on one that is a year old and the original poster is probably no longer reading - those are the people who should start a new one.
