If everyone thinking of buying a new car considered buying a Honda Civic, then the 800 workers who have just been made redundant at Swindon could perhaps be re employed.

I like this idea, although I'm not in the market for a car.

As a wider point, I wish it was easier to see what items are made where, particularly big-ticket items like cars, white goods etc

there are so many different products that could apply to.

You're right Seabright. I do try and buy products which will help our own economy, but as you say it is not always easy to find out where things are made. I just feel so sorry for them as there is little prospect of another car manufacturing job here for them. Honda have been very good to them and said they will have their jobs back if demand for the model picks up. It's a big "if" though.
