To think children are a bit like dogs

Constantly asking for food even though they can't possibly still be hungry! They would just eat and eat if you let them. Or is it just my DD Grin

We have just discovered that at some stage this week (possibly fri morning when I was in the bath and DP was fixing the car) DD1 who is 3.11 poured herself a bowl of cereal. The cereal and milk were both not open and neither DP or I opened them.

She was supposed to be watching a dvd, and DP was in and out. I have no idea how she managed it without him seeing.

She will eat until shes sick if we let her.

MadameCastafiore · 12/01/2013 16:50

God no dogs are nicer and you can leave them on their own!

verytellytubby · 12/01/2013 16:51

Always said my twin boys are like dogs. Exercise, food and fresh air Grin

AdoraBell · 12/01/2013 16:52

Mine don't ask for food, they just want biscuits and chocolate. I'm sure they'd accept it intravenously if I let them.

KellyElly · 12/01/2013 16:53

She's just had dinner and pudding and is now saying she's hungry. She's been saying it all day! I think I'm banning the phrase 'I'm hungry' from now on. People must think I starve her :)

Mine is. Will eat and eat. Also like a dog, needs a good run every day.

AdoraBell · 12/01/2013 16:55

Oh yes, and one of my DDs is not as clean as the dogs. My dogs are fastidious about keeping themselves clean, but DD1 -not so much.

LadyKinbote · 12/01/2013 16:56

My 10mo crawls over to anyone who's eating and begs like a puppy. It's actually quite cute.

PoppyWearer · 12/01/2013 16:56

My DS runs around the house with the toilet roll trailing behind him.

KellyElly · 12/01/2013 16:59

There's also the constant yapping too Grin

My 2.8yo DD comes when DH whistles.Blush Nuff said.

WholePackofJaffas · 12/01/2013 17:05

Chunky I will admit to also whistling for their recall Blush

'To think children are a bit like dogs'
I don't know about yours, but my kids don't stink, crap on the pavements or bite people

D0oinMeCleanin · 12/01/2013 17:16

My dogs don't stink, crap on the pavements or bite people either. Maybe you should bath yours and call a trainer in realcoalfire? Biting is not normal dog behavior.

Dd2 has her moments Hmm Grin

must every thread that mentions dogs turn into an anti dog rant?

PoppyWearer · 12/01/2013 17:17

My DD has been known to throw a ball and shout "fetch!" to my DS, so I'm not the only one making the comparison in our house.

colleysmill · 12/01/2013 17:17

Ha ha I've said for years ds is like a puppy - needs love, watering, feeding and exercising regularly!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 12/01/2013 17:19

My boys used to need a long walk twice a day. One of them did once do a poo in the wood that needed picking up in a plastic bag.

realcoalfire · 12/01/2013 17:21

all dogs stink!

Geekster · 12/01/2013 17:22

My 10 month old is exactly the same as yours LadyKinbote. She adores our dog and usually feeds her half her dinner, she even copied the dogs panting the other day.

cantspel · 12/01/2013 17:23

Mine are nothing like dogs for a start they dont lick their arse or eat their own poo.

AmandinePoulain · 12/01/2013 17:25

My 5mo sits at the table, either in her high chair or on one of our laps, and drools whilst we eat, much like my parents' Labrador (although he does it from the floor Grin). It was when she started doing that, and tracking the food with her eyes as we ate it, that we thought she was ready for solids Grin

ShakeWellBeforeOpening · 12/01/2013 17:32

Dogs can be far better behaved than children Grin

colleysmill · 12/01/2013 17:33

And the endless energy that young children and young dogs have. Ds has two speeds - stop and go. Nothing in between

badtemperedaldbitch · 12/01/2013 17:39

Having a dog is like having a perpetual 2year old!

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/01/2013 17:43

Not all dogs smell or bite Confused

Children are like dogs insofar as they want to eat almost anything you have yourself and not only need but quite like to have boundaries and rules. Recalling my own childhood experience here, don't have children yet.
