I have emptied the cupboard to salty foods and stocked up on plain food. I am drinking diet drinks and cranberry. After having son AIBU to TTC a girl?

Yes, because it there is absolutely no evidence that this will work and really, why does it matter what your second child is?

Fakebook · 12/01/2013 15:23

Are you kidding me? I didn't change my diet and had a girl the first time. Few early miscarriages in between one of which was a girl, then had my DS. Diet doesn't increase your chances of having a girl or boy.

YANBU to give it a try as long as you are prepared to accept that you may still get a boy!
I have 3 DDs and wonder why what i ate would make a difference as its down to the sperm surely

cocoachannel · 12/01/2013 15:44

YABU because it is sperm that is the contributing factor to the baby's sex...

But FWIW I craved salty & spicy things during pregnancy (American Hot pizza being the main culprit) an had a girl.

NickyNackyNooNoo · 12/01/2013 15:45

YANBU - it's a free world eat what you like, fwiw I think you're bonkers though.... When I had my children I just wanted happy healthy children regardless of their sex Smile

YANBU to have a gender preference. YANBU to give the diet a whirl as long as you accept it is unlikely to make much difference and you are prepared to love a new baby of either sex.
I have 2 boys and looked into conceive a girl methods, wasn't convinced, and 18m and one MC later I'd be delighted with a sticky bean of either gender. It can't do any harm though...

These apparently swing it by 1% but as long as you're happy whatever the result I don't see any harm.

I think it's meant to work on the basis that girl sperm are tougher and the diet makes the vaginal environment more hostile to sperm so more girl sperms get through.

They also say to dtd 24 hours before ov as boy sperm don't live as long.

Do what you like, just don't expect it to make a difference.

Don't have a lot of sex. I hear that makes a bugger all difference.
