Been off since 28th on Hols, but been really ill since NYD. Culminating in trip to out of hours GP yesterday. It's this virus that is doing the rounds though now I have a secondary ear infection which I was been prescribed medicatio for. I feel awful, weak and faint.

But also feel bad for no going in- I'm not a sickie person, half a day in a year and a half- I do usually drag myself in but I am really struggling!! AIBU?

If you are sick, you are sick. You won't be doing yourself or anyone else any favours by dragging yourself off your sick bed, it might even make things worse.

ChablisLover · 06/01/2013 20:50

Yanbu

But I'd probably go in and then come home sick

Shows bosses you are not pulling a sicky

usualsuspect · 06/01/2013 20:51

DIddled · 06/01/2013 20:52

If you are sick you can't help it. It's really doing the rounds.

whois · 06/01/2013 21:00

scurryfunge · 06/01/2013 21:00

Nobody will thank you for going in if you are ill.
Stay at home - hope you feel better soon.

whois · 06/01/2013 21:00

Ugh that should say: don't go in just to go home sick

Sorry, don't know why I posted twice.

curiousuze · 06/01/2013 21:12

Don't be a plague maiden! Stay at home. You won't be productive anyway and no one will think twice about it.

I should have been back last Wednesday but was in hospital on New Year's Day with a chest infection on a nebuliser.

Felt like death warmed up since then but I've got a drs appt tomorrow to see if they're happy for me to go back. Not really sure what the dr will say as I'm still coughing and barking and sleeping most of the day.

I was ill most of December with Noro and a really heavy cold, kept dragging myself in (had two days off sick and wasted a lot of annual leave) and just didn't get better. I've felt guilty being off but to be honest, I've only made myself worse by going back to work when I was ill before Christmas.

Sometimes you need to just take a bit of a rest until you're 100% well. Hope you feel better soon.

DIddled · 06/01/2013 21:25

Thanks- I know lots of people have been ill and a lot worse than me. Feel utterly wiped out though- not had alcohol or done exercise in 2013 unheard of for me :)

Acky you don't sound like you are fit for work?

OP posts:
Acky123 · 06/01/2013 21:30

Awww, I'll be ok I'm sure.

I think it's just made me lazy. DP has told me I've got to get up at 9am tomorrow if I've a chance of being back at work on Tuesday. I've slept til after noon every day since last week :)

Did find out that a couple of mates have glandular fever though, so I'm asking for some blood tests tomorrow just to check for that and iron levels etc.

ChablisLover · 07/01/2013 13:57

How are you today?

Any better?

DIddled · 07/01/2013 14:56

I woke up feeling completely rotten! I have slept the whole day!! JUst had a cup of tea and a piece of toast. It's the strangest illness I have ever had as sometime I feel like I am on the mend and then get worse again. Thanks. Hope poor Acky is ok though?
