To expect electrical appliances to last longer than 2 years???

Fed up with this.

The latest thing to break is my Kenwood Breadmaker - just shy of 2 years old. The mechanism that turns the paddle has broken and it just results in non-mixed bread ingredients.

We have just replaced a kettle that broke at 2 years and we go through irons like you wouldn't believe.

When I was looking for a new kettle, all the reviews on amazon said the same thing, that they don't last much longer than 2 years nowadays. What a waste!

Is it worth complaining about the breadmaker, or am I wasting my time as its out of guarantee.

I would complain about the breadmaker, I would also complain about any appliance that didn't make it's 2nd birthday. It's not as if a breadmaker is only a couple of quid in Asda, they (if you get a half decent one) are quite expensive!

of course complain! just because it's beyond the warantee it should still last longer, morphy richards sent us a new kettle after 2 years. i'd expect a cimoany like kenwood to offer to at keast repair. if not - nameband shame

The UK Sale of Goods Act already offers us protection against faulty goods even when the manufacturer?s guarantee has run out and says that goods must last a ?reasonable time? ? which can be claimed anything up to 6 years from the date of purchase.

never buy an extended warranty for appliances - there is no need, you are covered in legislation

MadStaringEyes · 06/01/2013 12:02

Can you repair it? I repair everything that breaks here.

MadStaringEyes · 06/01/2013 12:07

Actually no, as Holly said, get a replacement.
