to hate commemorative coins?

DD has two diamond jubilee coins and they just sit in a drawer doing fuck all. I'm all for a mug to remember an occasion because at least it can be used. But a coin? It serves no purpose. It creates clutter. And it's cost someone money that they could have spent on something else.

Is it just me? Confused

I don't hate them. I just feel a little sad that it's often eg Grandparents who are taken in by the advertising (and with other items as well such as First Day Covers) into thinking they've bought a valuable investment present for the youngsters.

Really? They're seen as an investment?

Have a look at some of the avdertising. They can't say that directly but it's all in coded language.

I have one link for you all. www.justicecoin.com - it's not a parody.

I HATE commemorative coins. Whoever thought this was appropriate is kidding themselves.
