When rage overcomes pain

i have just returned from the dentist after major work, exhausted from keeping my mouth open for 60mins. My H came in from shopping and his FIRST words were telling me off for parking too far to the right so he couldn't park. I hissed and explained the work and I was then 'told off' for the amount of money it was going to cost. I explained that I would be happy to not buy food until June just to get my teeth sorted. All the adrenalin and rage, when all I wanted was, "How did it go, are you ok", has worked a treat. Now in bed with the tv and iPad. Anybody else found that anger kills pain?

Actually, I'll see how long this lasts as the novocaine hasn't worn off. :-)

Parking, meh, it was lucky I could park in a straight line!

Confused

Aren't you a delicate thing then......?

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 04/01/2013 14:12

I feel for you OP, I hate going to the dentist and I find keeping my mouth clamped open for more than 10 mins exhausting, or rather painful.

DozyDuck · 04/01/2013 14:14

Actually my jaw aches from other activities that don't take 60 minutes. I don't think you're delicate

60 minutes of mouth open work is harder than you think!

I'd be furious about being told off about how much dental treatment cost immediately after the treatment too.

atosilis poor you, hope you feel better soon. Ignore the nasties on this thread. Try some Wine to disinfect the site.

atosilis · 04/01/2013 17:02

Thank you for the wine! I would love it but doing 'dry January'. Had a good sleep. My mouth was open for so long that the muscles have stretched and my face is an inch longer, but still no real pain.

It isn't the anger in iself, it that miracal of Adrenalin, which the Adrenal glands secrete when angry, terrified or a matter of life and death.
I have had a rush of adrenalin in which my pain disappeared < my brain was not aware of it> when performing a dance for an audience. Soon as I got on stage, my stiff painful neck was gone, but returned as soon as I was off-stage!!
Also, I am terrified of the sea and big waves, but when DD was 10, I was on the beach and she in the sea, when the red flag was raised and the tannoy system called every body out of the sea. She STAYED IN. My horror for the danger she was in overcame my terror of the sea and I rushed to get her out.

We are doing Dry January too. It's dull but feeling better for it. Have deferred Wine in Fab February.
