If you know in your heart that you can't work or it would be detrimental to you to continue, there's no point in feeling guilty.

Just concentrate on getting better...everything else will have to wait.

Hope you feel better soon Thanks

CoolaYuleA · 04/01/2013 00:30

It would be more unreasonable to go into work whilst ill. Your GP has said you are not fit to work, because you aren't. Nothing to feel guilty about.

ripsishere · 04/01/2013 00:30

Don't be daft. Apart from giving you time to get better, you won't be infecting your colleagues.
Get well soon.

larks35 · 04/01/2013 00:31

Goodness me, if you've been signed off by doc for 2 weeks then you are ill. Stop feeling guilty, give in to the tiredness and get some rest.

bigheartedwoman · 04/01/2013 00:33

But i feel well! ( i know) and i'm the single breadwinner and all that (fuck off Big) xx ( i know that as well xx)

GPs don't sign people off work without good cause. Take the time to recover fully, and remember that you are probably doing your employer a favour - if you went back too soon then chances are you would get ill again.

WorraLiberty · 04/01/2013 00:39

Why did your GP sign you off if you feel well enough to work?

There must have been a good enough reason for it...I expect you need to rest.

DS1 got signed off a couple of weeks back for a week because he had Bronchitis and Pneumonia.

He felt well enough to work after a couple of days but thankfully I managed to talk him out of it...especially as he's a roofer who works outside in all weathers.

curiousuze · 04/01/2013 00:41

I continued to go to work/gym/see friends with a chest infection and bad cough. Ended up with post viral fatigue which lasted 3 years. I was bed bound for months, couldn't stand up in the shower and almost lost my job. Just rest! It's not worth taking the chance.

Booyhoo · 04/01/2013 00:44

Noooo! no guilt. chest infections can really take their toll on you if you dont rest up at the time. you should be making good use of this time, by sleeping and watching crap tv Grin

JustAHolyFool · 04/01/2013 00:47

You need to rest, chest infections are grim.

bigheartedwoman · 04/01/2013 00:48

Bloody hell Worral xx Hope DS1 is he ok now xx Stealth, fair play so xx But i honestlly feel ok. (worried because if i can't work, the ol mortgage won't get paid, and its only me whos the breadwinner)

Jesus i sound so me, me ,me , but i'm honestly so scared that if i don't work, i'll lose me job x
