To be feeling all disconcerted by ds crying

This is a totally pointless thread but I am posting it because I'm on my own today and have no one else to share it with Smile.

The dc have gone with dh to the inlaws today. I will be collecting them on Thursday. Ds1 (6 in March) cried in the car on the way to the station about the fact that I'm not going with them. He cried again on the platform when I was saying godbye. I keep thinking about him wiping a tear away with scarf and frowning because he was cross with himself Sad.

He has never done this before - no separation anxiety as a toddler, never a sniffle about being left anywhere, nothing. Dh is sahd so both dc are used to being apart from me, and have been from babyhood.

It has shaken me a little and I now feel guilty - though I will be using some of the time to catch up on marking, I admit I was looking forward to getting some time to myself, too. Now I think I should have gone with them Sad.

Sorry for the pointless, moany post.

They will most likely have a great time. We've had similar actually with ds1 these holidays. He turns 6 this month so similar age. He and dd often stay with my parents and we have often all gone down together for a weekend then left them there for my parents to bring home after a few days. We spent Christmas there and then dh and I came home with the baby but my mum ended up bringing ds1 and dd home earlier then planned as ds1 was homesick. Maybe there is something about the age or maybe it is just because Christmas is so manic anyway that they are already up and down and off kilter.

He loves you very much, I'm sure he will have lots of fun and be distracted,

give him a ring later and ask him what he has beed up to.
