to go to bed before 8pm?

I'm shattered, can feel my head nodding while I'm sitting on the sofa

if I go to bed I may well wake up in the early hours and not be able to get back to sleep

if i stay up but end up nodding off for 30 minutes or so on the sofa, I won't get to sleep properly until the early hours

what do I do???

Make a half cup of hot milk and put brandy/wiskey/vodka in it , drink it quickly, then go straight to bed. Anymore liquid and you'll need a wee. Works like a charm!

Go to bed after a shower.

My natural body clock likes me to stretch out in bed about 9.00 pm then I watch tv til 10.30 and turn telly off, generally I sleep well til 5.30 but that is how my mind works.

I'd go to bed. If you wake up early you can have a nice time reading in bed and then fall asleep again for a bit.
