Fed up with neighbours, who have their own private drive that can fit THREE cars, parking in front of OUR drive that ALREADY has a sign the size of the hollywood sign saying 'no parking, driveway in constant use' PLUS a large disabled sign too, they never stop.

Damned if I do, damned if I dont, theyre prob doing it on purpose now, they NEVER park in their drive. I cant call police or council or whoever it is I need to contact, Ive tried before to no avail, Ive asked neighbours nicely and then a bit firmer each time, yet its nearly every day. they SEE we're disabled, and apart from it being against the law,we have to have drive free for any hospital emargencies.

so, just printed out yet another BIGGER sign, feel like buying big outdoor lightbulbs and framing signs with them!!!!

Not just them though, we have a school at the end of the road and get this with the school runs too.

I feel your pain. My driveway has a clear 'Private Parking no.1' sign on it, yet visitors to next door are forever either parking in or behind it!! ARGH!

I know the neighbours (apparantly ) cant speak a word or understand English but a no parking sign is one of signs that EVERYONE knows, and understands no?

And not just the word 'disabled' but the visual wheelchair icon too.

How disgusting. They know you're disabled and they continue to do it. I'm sorry but it would be all out war!!!

Bollards? Chain? They park across the drive, blocking your exit, entrance to your property can't the police intervene? If they park actually in the drive way, park across it and block THEM in, and tell them you will continue to do so if they park on YOUR property.

Do you know what language they speak? You can use the free google translation tool to write them a letter.

SantasHoHOHo just might do that. would ask for a translation from Mns but some one might just translate something rude that i wouldnt know exactly what it said!!! They might get the message tho!!

Someone from the council came once and spoke to them in their language and explained evrything but the bottom crevices just think its a big joke.

thing is i dont want to wait for an all out medical life threatening emergency till I get police intervention.

Scotch, - they dont park IN our drive, oh Id be all out war then, and im scared to confront them again as I cant afford to have my car keyed or whatever cos thats what people do dont they? they KNOW me and DC are on our own.

Well if the council have already come out and translated then they really don't have an excuse. What horrible, selfish people.

Is the space outside an officially designated disabled space by the council or a sign you've put up yourself? If it's an official space surely the council/wardens can do something about this. Take photographs too.

Good idea Santa, to take photos. No its not an official disabled place, Ive been fighting for disabilty badge/access for years now, the disabilty people argue that because DC can actually put one foot in front of the other we dont need one...dont get me started on that one, whole other can of worms.

But im disabled at the mo too from knee problems. can drive but thats about it.

but its a proper dropped kerb driveway. they do move when and if i ask them too, (my thunderous face says it all!) but they just keep coming back and doing it again.

To get a disabled bay you have to have no pre existing driveway, no garden where hard standing can be put and a blue badge. Also having a bay doesn't give you exclusive rights to it sadly. It's a bay any blue badge holder can use.

utterly. If you have a disabled bay outside the property but then get your garden turned into a drive, does the disabled bay still stand or can it bet taken away. I only ask because my own neighbours who are disabled moved into a property with an existing disabled bay outside but then went onto build a drive in the garden with a dropped kerb. They hardly park on either but in front of everyone else's houses!

Depending on how they park there, drive your car (or get your husband to) to just touch the side of the next car parked there. You'll either block the driver from entering or make it impossible for them to leave with ouch scratching their car on your bumper. Obviously, when they come to your door to complain, you won't understand as you only speak English.
Not exactly non-confrontational, but sounds like they deserve it!

Why not ask the the community support officers to go and have a word with them, in the interests of neighbourly harmony?

Can you print another sign with a picture of a tow truck on it, or write clamping in operation? Doesn't have to be true, but might make them think twice.

I think once its in place it's in place. May be worth contacting your local council and say it seems to be obsolete and that use has been discontinued

Presumably if they don't use the bay they don't have a blue badge and paid for the hard standing privately

What about getting a couple of cones to pop out there in front of your drive?

Aside from the op's issue- we have a driveway and a disabled parking space outside our house as our driveway is not wide enough to be able to open the doors wide enough to get dd in and out.

My in-laws live on a road near a football stadium and on match days people park all over. One day he wanted to go out but a car was across his driveway - he rang the non emergency police and they tracked the guy down at the stadium but crucially did also say that if they couldn't get the guy back they would winch the car out and tow it away.

I hope you find a solution op, the disability aside, it is rude and socially inept to park across someone elses driveway.

Get some cheap lipsticks from poundland. Scribble over their car windows with it every time they park there. Causes no lasting damage but it's a bastard to shift. That should get the message across in any language.

Can you park across your own drive? Not that you should have to. Maybe put cones out?
