To think this isn't the best plan for 6 kids?

Every Xmas my family (DH and DT's 3 years old) meet up with 2 other families we are friendly with for the kids to all exchange gifts. (Kids ages ranging from 6 years to 2 and a half all boys) last year we met in a soft play, the year before for a pub meal. This year has been hectic with illness, so we are planning to meet tomorrow. I suggested a nice pub with a soft play attatched as the weather is hideous. But another family have to rush off mid afternoon, so the plan is now to meet in a pub at 11:30 am for a couple of drinks. The pub in question isn't really child friendly, no play areas etc. I just don't think its appropriate to meet for drinks so early in the day with small children. Also it isn't going to exactly be relaxing, trying to keep 6 kids happy while we have "drinks". To be honest it sounds like my idea of hell. We can entertain our kids with some coluring books, for a while.....but .........

I've suggested everyone come to our house, where the kids can play to their hearts content, there are a few beers in the fridge if people really feel the need, and I'm happy knock up a load of sarnies if need be.

DH and I appreciate that you shouldn't let your children dictate your life......but....
Or AIBU?

Your plan is better!

Your plan sounds great. Enjoy

Agree with Kitty, your plan is better.

It's the sort of daft plan that I end up agreeing to and then spend the day gritting my teeth and muttering 'told you it would be a disaster' to DH.

My guess is that the others won't want to put you to any trouble which is why they are keen on the pub idea.

Yea!!! All coming here! Big pot of soup made to feed kids and adults can have all the left over cheese and ham from xmas with a couple of french sticks!
Let the carnage of the play room commence!

phew! Have a nice (loud!) get together at your house.

The other plan sounded like a huge PITA.

I would rather go with your plan, but have no problem with children in the pub either as long as they aren't running around and its not a "drinkers pub" (if that makes sense!)

My kids are fine i pubs and cafes but a home is always best.
