(it's out of warranty btw and I'd rather replace screen than buy a new one) I did google but I'd rather have a recommendation, thanks in advance x Thanks

I had mine replaced by amazon without a quibble or charge but it was just within warranty. The screen had scratched even though I was careful and kept it in a case. I think a bit of grit had got caught in the case. Anyway, their customer service was great. No harm in asking if they could replace the screen.

I broke the screen of my kindle and I had to get a completely new kindle. Sorry.

Hi! I have has my kindle screen replaced after I knelt on it and broke it. It was a company based in London - I posted it to them, they fixed it and sent it back. Cost about £70. Mine was also out of warranty. I was a little dubious about the whole thing but my kindle is as good as new! I can PM you the company details if you like.

A thought that might also help - I phoned Amazon to ask if they could fix it. They said no, but they did offer me a big discount on a new kindle. You might prefer that to getting the screen fixed.

HTH

I've had two broken kindle screens and both were replaced by Amazon for free- my friend had one replaced and had to pay £50 because it was out of warranty but she got a new Kindle for that, so very reasonable

DH dropped his kindle two weeks ago, phoned Amazon, and had a brand new one sent free two days later, no quibble at all

You can buy replacement screens for about £40. Or you can buy a basic kindle for £69

It's one of those 'not worth repairing items'

valiumredhead · 28/12/2012 14:22

Ring the helpline - they have amazing customer service ime.

Just to clarify, the reason I got my screen fixed rather than getting a new kindle is that I have the kindle keyboard and Amazon would only offer me a cheap deal on the newer kindle. I may be odd but I much prefer the keyboard version so I really didn't want a new one, I wanted my existing kindle fixed.

Jins · 28/12/2012 14:31

In your circumstances I'd have done the same exBrightonBell. I've got the 3g keyboard version and I don't think you can get them anymore

I've got a brand new sparkly Kindle Fire too but the keyboard kindle will not be retired

Hi I know someone whose Kindle screen packed in just out of warranty. Amazon supplied the £69 version for £30
