We had 10 for Xmas dinner yesterday, Xmas eve was spent preparing the dining room, fetching chairs from parents to seat everyone, baking and making all food stuff ready for the next day, DH went pressie dropping for half the day. Xmas day was lovely, the food all went well and we all had a good time, visitors leaving about 9pm. By the time we spent some chill time with DDs and got them to bed and relaxed ourselves, it was 11. DH says can we have everyone over tomorrow ~(Boxing day) for tea to help clear up the food (half a turkey breast, a few slices of ham, half a bowl of salad and one baguette!) and gets a bit sulky when I say no. Sorry but I am absolutely KNACKERED and we do it each year but this year I have put my foot down and said no, as we don't have enough food to feed 10,I refuse to go shopping on Boxing Day (in a rural area there wouldn't be much in anyway) and I don't want to start cooking from scratch again. Bah Humbug! (ps they never invite us over to theirs for tea instead!)

No stick to your guns on this. I refused to go up to my mums today as I had cooked my first ever Christmas Dinner yesterday.
I wanted to sleep in until 3 needed a rest and she's happy that we will see her tomorrow when I have collected DD from DEXP and his DW

Yanbu. I go to df on Xmas eve and pil Xmas day then df and dsm come on the evening. Last Christmas I did a tea for df dsm brother etc but third year I haven't. Dd is 3 months old and I just wanted today to be calm and just the three of us. We are about to get into bed with a picnic tea and a film. (when I get my arse out of this Bath)
