AIBU to NOT expect phone calls on Boxing Day......

Telling me that my mobile contract can be renewed with a new phone? Actually I'm pretty sure my contract is NOT up for renewal for a few more months - I can keep going as long as I like as things are and only need to sign a new contract if I want a new free handset - but that isn't the point, it's bloody BOXING DAY!

This is not a working day for anyone except shops and essential services, and I don't class phone contract renewal as an essential service. My very elderly Godmother is in hospital so calls from a withheld number right now tend to make me a tiny bit panicky if thay are outside "normal" office type hours anyway, but even without that I expect peace & quiet if that's what I've got planned, not fcking sales type calls Xmas Angry.

Oh, I thought you were about to say from family and friends and I was about to say YABU and really anti-social. But no, you're not Grin

AmazingBouncingBabyJesus · 26/12/2012 13:35

Wow those poor bastards having to work Boxing day.

jessjessjess · 26/12/2012 13:37

Sounds like a scam call to me.

Allergictoironing · 26/12/2012 13:49

Not a scam call jessjessjess, it's pretty standard if you have a contract from Orange. There are companies that work as agents for them, who get a cut if you renew through the agency company. I get this every time the fixed term is up on my contract, at least 2-3 different companies calling me to try to get to renew through them & offering me a new handset, standard practice.

It was just the Boxing Day thing that really pissed me off, especially with my Godmother so ill.
