shesariver · 26/12/2012 12:55

But every thread here should be an AIBU...as this is the AIBU section!

Panzee · 26/12/2012 13:03

I use Active Posts and about every third thread is in AIBU.

Tee2072 · 26/12/2012 13:04

So hide AIBU. Problem solved.

Sirzy · 26/12/2012 13:06

I think what the op is getting at is that a lot of AIBU really belong in another section.

RooneyMara · 26/12/2012 13:13

I hate it too but then I hate aibu full stop, I think it has had a caustic and lowering effect on MN in general.

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 26/12/2012 13:16

Oh but if I hide it I will only have about 20 threads to thread Sad

and miss out on all the bitching etc

I am kind of saying that could they not go somewhere else?

Please not type badly to me I will cry, I have a stinking cold and sore throat..swallowing glass comes to mind!

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 26/12/2012 13:22

No you won't. If you hide it your Active will fill up with Chat and whatever other topics you have not hidden.

It choose the most active 50 threads from all of your topics. It's just AIBU is the most active topic so it pops up the most.

Go one, try it. If you don't like it, unhide it!

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 26/12/2012 13:28

Okay thank you I shall try hide it and see if I like it! I just a big moody moaner btw who believe we should all be nice for 2 days every year, Christmas Day and Boxing Day!

You sound as if you have tonsillitis and so you are by definition NBU. It's right up there in the pain top 4 along with labour, sinusitis and kidney stones.

Hot drinks are very good against the pain, especially lemon juice, honey and hot water. And it is NU to take the painkillers separately, Lemsips just taste foul.

As for the Roses V Quality Street debate I vote neither - I prefer Celebrations (tiny Milky Ways and Bounty bars, yummmmmm!)

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 26/12/2012 16:33

Thank you. I think I may go get some honey/lemon - painkiller before the shop shuts, it is not better, as yet!

OP posts:
WankinginaWinterWonderland · 26/12/2012 16:34

Oh I love celebrations!! I may swap DS2 when he goes out....

OP posts:
pointysettia · 26/12/2012 18:05

If the razorblade-like pain persists and you get feverish it's worth seeing your GP - tonsillitis is pretty easy to diagnose, they just look for pus-filled footballs at the back of your throat. Been there, done that. Look after yourself!

pointysettia · 26/12/2012 18:05

Oh, and any hot drink will offer temporary relief, even tea - but you have to drink it as hot as you can stand it. The pain relief only lasts a few minutes but if you keep a hot drink on hand at all times you will at least not be so miserable.

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 26/12/2012 18:40

I have the temperature too. I keep touching my head and saying 'Dc please Mum's not well' (clearly trying to milk this only illness of year) I am strolling about in a vest top here ...DC are complaining it is cold Hmm [wimps]

Thank you, they helped!

Was I allowed two, sorry I am greedy with celebrations! Grin

Oh no.. not the swallowing part...I wonder if Baileys may help, I have been sipping tea all day, not ate, Oh I must be unwell if I haven't ate, well I had 2 strawberry quality street...yes clearly unwell, usually through half a box by now!

OP posts:
WankinginaWinterWonderland · 26/12/2012 18:41

I also keep ahem ahem ahem aheming for no reason. Nothing to ahem for. Confused

OP posts:
pointysettia · 26/12/2012 20:14

I'd be seeing the GP sharpish, OP.

Oh, and if you get fed-up with hot then cold also helps - ice cubes are good. I suspect frozen Baileys would be better still, though irresponsible from an alcohol intake point of view.

And you're allowed as many as you like Smile
