AIBU to put this sign on the dishwasher?

"Hi I'm a dishwasher. I don't have hands, or any kind of limbs at all, just a spinning thing that sprays water over your dirty dishes and makes them clean.

Technology is a wonderful thing, and yes they've got a rover thingy on Mars now gathering samples of rock, presumably with some sort of arm-like device, but back here on Earth, in this kitchen, in this dishwasher, no arms. Got it?

Sooooo...when you put your cups, plates, glasses, spoons yada yada on my top, I can't clean them! I know! How very pathetic is that, what a waste of technology, sending a machine to Mars to pick up stuff, when right here, in this kitchen, those arms could be doing something genuinely useful like stacking my racks

Witty. But a "PUT STUFF IN THE DISHWASHER NOT ON THE SIDE" might be easier !!

I had one that said, "Put the dishes inside, not on top. They don't go in by osmosis".

I would copy your note and put it on my own dishwasher, but no one gets near enough to read it.

A friend tried something similar. Yes people did start putting stuff in the dishwasher, but normally piled up on top of the CLEAN stuff from the cycle that had just finished a few moments earlier. Plus they wouldn't ever think "ooh dishwasher is absolutely full, shall i put it on?" (or even ask mate to do so) oh no, they would just wedge more & more things in balanced precariously on top of each other (sigh).

There's a sign on the dishwasher in the kitchen at work which says "I am a dishwasher" I always wonder if the other kitchen appliances will feel the urge to introduce themselves?
