Mumsnetters are highly diverse.

They also are real life people (scary as the thought may be )

Well, it all depends with whom one associates in real life.

But yeah, actually. I often tell DH that there's not a question that can't be answered within five minutes by a Mumsnetter, ranging from "What's this song I've had stuck in my head all day ... it goes la la la dooby dooby doo?" to "What exactly is quantum physics?"

I'll confess to being a smart arse in RL (can't help it, and freely admit its not always a positive trait/skill)

On MN I'm a smart arse with added google, the added confidence of anonymity and the ability to pause, ponder and then post.

Thus I therefore conclude that YANBU and suspect majority of people behave differently on the internet than RL and that makes them appear more well read (if only for the fact they've only read it two minutes before posting!).
