ds calling their dad by first name

am I bu by not telling DS 7 off by calling him by his name.

he has spoken to him in months hasn't seen his for all most 4 years . he saw a card and aske d if it was from name I asked who as he normally says dad and he replied my dad.

the card wasn't. but it took me back a bit that he usedbhis name Andy if he trys it with me I say no I'm mum or mummy. as I just dont think it's right. but I couldn't tell him off as he isbt being a dad and shouldn't be given that name.
guess it just sad that he's slowly figuring out his farther is a waste of space.

Maybe he hears a friend (or few) talking about their mothers partners by their first name and thinks he can do the same.

He may also just be trying out something new to see if you would notice/react.

Maybe he just doesn't feel right calling him dad after such a long absence (I know I would find it difficult).

Maybe he thinks he sounds more mature by calling you by your first name and his dad. You are not a waste of space to him and he has tried to call you by your first name.
