to have bought DH a changing bag for Christmas?

He is a SAHD.

I was stuck for ideas.

Sounds bad, doesn't it? In my defence, I bought his a laptop recently as his old one broke and I did say it was an early xmas present. Currently he's using one of DD's pink duffle bags, thought he might like something more manly.

Should I fill it with nappies and wipe? Xmas Grin

Depends. You've got him other things apart from that though, right?

Right?

BelleoftheFall · 23/12/2012 14:40
Wink
miaowmix · 23/12/2012 14:42

Umm...
Well. I can't imagine my Dp would have been thrilled with this. Burt then again nor would I.
Would you like this as a Christmas present? Smile

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 14:43

Um. A pair of flip flops. And a book.

Depends which bag.

The one I want is very expensive so I'd be happy with it as a gift.

Wouldn't be best pleased with a bog standard one though tbh.

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 14:44

It's a nice bag!

But no, not as main present.

But then, I did buy the laptop last week! He wanted it early...

(Should I find something else? Any ideas?)

IneedAsockamnesty · 23/12/2012 14:44

I would quite like one as a gift if I needed one.

SecretSantaFix · 23/12/2012 14:45

Seeing as he's had his main Xmas present early, I'd say it was fine.

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 14:46

As in, no, I wouldn't like it as a main present. It currently is, if we don't count the laptop.

bradywasmyfavouritewiseman · 23/12/2012 14:46

I would be really annoyed if dh bought me a changing bag, tbh.

Unless it was one of those big designer ones that is actually large handbag.

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 14:48

It is a handbag really. Well, a manbag. But I think he'd be more offended about getting a manbag than a changing bag.

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 14:48

So, not to fill it with nappies than? Grin

complexnumber · 23/12/2012 14:50

Stick a couple of bottles of wine in it (and/or his favourite whiskey)

miaowmix · 23/12/2012 14:50

Maybe get him a couple of nice (and quite manly) stocking fillers too?
A laptop is v generous so I wouldn't worry too much. But probably swerve the nappies. They don't really say 'Happy Christmas, I love you' Wink

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 14:51

Stocking fillers all laptop related

OP posts:
MammaTJ · 23/12/2012 14:55

If the stocking fillers refer to the real main present, the laptop, I think it is all fine.

TidyDancer · 23/12/2012 14:58

I actually wouldn't mind getting one for Christmas or birthday, but I think the general consensus on this would be that I'm in the minority.

Since you've got him a laptop, I think he would be unreasonable to argue about this.

ethelb · 23/12/2012 15:01

dp says put a copy of call of duty in it and he would be happy (broody mare we don't even have kids)

StickEmWithThePointyEnd · 23/12/2012 15:08

Entirely depends on the bag imo. I have a JuJuBe BeAll cost me a fortune (for a bag!) so much so that I have been known to use it as my regular handbag to ensure maximum usage and it's gorgeous so I would be perfectly happy to receive it as a present.

Had I received by bog standard boring came-with-the-pram bag though, I would not be happy.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 23/12/2012 15:12

I got a changing bag for Christmas a few years back. I asked for it. It was way nicer than one id but myself and doubles as a holdall now I've no kids in nappies.

LoopsInHoops · 23/12/2012 16:23

So, is the consensus that it's OK, or not? Xmas Confused

I really don't want to go to another shop tomorrow.

OP posts:
SavageCarrot · 23/12/2012 16:29

I guess he will make use of it as he is a SAHD, and you have bought other 'manly' stuff, I think it's a unique gift idea.

Wish I had thought of it for DH when my kids were young!

Idocrazythings · 23/12/2012 17:02

I think it's ok. There are some really nice bags out there (I got one for Mother's Day a few years ago) and if its quite manly? my DH would not be impressed but he's not a SAHD so it's different

SantaisBarredfromhavingStella · 23/12/2012 17:16

I'd go with wine/whiskey rather than nappies & wipes as suggested up thread Xmas Smile

Viviennemary · 23/12/2012 17:21

No. I think the baby should have got the changing bag. So not OK unless you think it's something he asked for as a present.
