And if IANBU, then can someone PLEASE inform DS3 that if he doesn't go to sleep until 1am, then 3am is most definitely NOT FUCKING MORNING.

I am tired.

That is all.

It is here, but we are jet lagged. Not helpful, I know.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 23/12/2012 05:52

Oh god I feel for you. My ds2 Woke at 5 after going to sleep after 1. But he's 2 wks old so all is forgiven. I hope ds has gone back to sleep for you couthy or you've sent him to watch telly while you sleep at least

MerryCouthyMows · 23/12/2012 06:03

Couldn't send him to watch telly alone - he's a 22mo with hyperactivity. He's FINALLY just dropped off, so I'm going to try to get some sleep.

Definitely not morning. My 5 month DD did not get the memo either. We have been trying to get her down to bed earlier but it really just means she wakes up at 10pm and 3am and then mostly awake on and off til 6am rather than sleeping 10 - 7 like she used to. Grrr.

My DH had the cheek to ask me why I went to bed so early last night.

OpheliasWeepingWillow · 23/12/2012 06:21

Ah yes. Dd has jet lag and thinks 3am means PLAY. I play dead and let her crawl over me. Doesn't work.

WhenAChildIsBawnTigga · 23/12/2012 06:33

I'm evil - it's a gift, I've got The Cub Convinced it's 3 more sleeps to Xmas so he doesn't get up at some other ungodly hour on Xmas Day. But he's 3.9.

Bleurgh. I REALLY didn't want to get up today!!

Tigga, he's like this every day. He doesn't understand about Santa etc, but he doesn't understand sleep either...

The longest stretch he's slept was for 4 hrs at once - and he doesn't regularly do that. Almost two years of sleeplessness. I feel like crap. At least most babies settle down by a year. Not my DS3, I'm sure he thinks sleeping is something other people do...Hmm

Ah, sorry to hear the tv can't even babysit. That is my fail safe if they really aren't going to get back to sleep.

thesnowmanrocks · 23/12/2012 11:41

My ds was like this till he started school. Sorry I know thats not helpful. Ds now awakes anything from 5-6:30. But what you have to think when they really have you sleep deprived and watching another Thomas on the telly at 4 in the morning and trying to snooze on the sofa, is it won't be forever.
And when they are 18 and your lucky to see them before 12 it will be tim to get your own back! Wahaa(cruel mummy!)

JeezyOrangePips · 23/12/2012 11:53

Hmmm.

YABU to say its not morning. It is '3 o clock in the morning' as opposed to 3 o clock in the afternoon'

However, YANBU to think that 3 in the morning should be spent in a state of slumber.

It must be really hard going to cope with that every day. I had kids that were regularly up at 5, and tbh I thought that was ok. 3 would have been anything but.

nailak · 23/12/2012 12:02

mine were like that until they started school to. I still don't get unbroken sleep, the oldest is 5 and the youngest is 2.6.

MerryCouthyMows · 23/12/2012 13:28

DD didn't sleep through until she was 4yo. At which point DS1 was born just a month after she started sleeping through.

DS1 didn't sleep through until he was at FT school either.

DS2 has always slept relatively well, but NEVER has more than 8 hours. If I put him to bed at 8pm, he is awake for the day at 4am. If I put him to bed at 9pm (his usual bedtime now), he is awake at 5am. Without fail. The only saving grace there is that he is now 9yo and can read a fucking book until a more reasonable time.

They have all got dxd hyperactivity.

I am having to do DS2's inhalers every THREE hours, day and night right now, as he has croup that's worsened his chronic asthma ATM. Normally it's every four hours.

And DS3 has roughly 6 hours sleep in every 24 hours, 4 at night and two in the day, but the two in the day are an hour nap in the morning and an hour nap in the early afternoon.

And I am finding it impossible to stop him napping as it's usually when I'm doing the school runs.

I have been permanently sleep deprived without a break for nearly 15 fucking years. My body is giving up now!!
