To be a bit sad

About saying goodbye to my blue hair? I have an interview for the university that I applied to :D and I've decided that, while I LOVE having bright coloured hair, that I want them to take me seriously so I'm dying my hair black. I feel a bit sad :(

Sad I miss my daft hair colours too. Now i just don't have time. But when i am old i will wear purple (hair).

theodorakisses · 21/12/2012 18:48

I think you should keep it blue. One of my most successful recruits ever had blue dreadlocks and that was for an airport security job in Saudi! It really shouldn't matter should it? Unless you would be more comfortable toning it down for the interview. Either way, all the very best of luck, I hope you get it

TraineeBabyCatcher · 21/12/2012 18:48

I know how you feel mine was red pre uni. Now I'm not sure whether it will look a little unprofessional or whether I'm just being over cautious.

FrenchRuby · 21/12/2012 18:52

I think I'd be more comfortable with black hair for my interview because I don't want it to be distracting, if you know what I mean? I know I'll have bright hair again one day :) I'm just sat looking at the box of dye thinking it better be worth it haha.

I tried to dye my hair purple last night. The box colour on the box said it would be purple. I left it on for long enough. It's NOT purple.

I am sad. Sad

I'm hope you have your blue hair back soon, along with the result of the interview you want Smile

FrenchRuby · 21/12/2012 18:59

Is it completely the wrong colour? Or just too dark? If it's too dark wait a few washes and it should lighten up.

I'm assuming this is an interview for a university course, not a job at a university?

FrenchRuby · 21/12/2012 19:01

Oh yes! Commercial Photography degree, sorry should have made that clear in my OP haha

I wouldn't change your hair colour for a course interview, you are hoping to become a student, if anything you should be dying it bluer Grin

Good luck, i started a degree this year (I have bright red hennaed hair).

Bluestocking · 21/12/2012 19:10

Leave your hair blue. Students are allowed to look unconventional, especially in arts/humanities/creative subjects.

FrenchRuby · 21/12/2012 19:10

How are you finding it? I'm really nervous about my interview Confused

I was so sad to dye my pink hair back to boring brown when I joined the police :( 8 years later I still want to do something Fun with my hair, but am not allowed. If I were you, I wouldn't change it, I shouldn't think it would matter for a photography degree interview. All photographers I've met have had an interesting look (except my sister's wedding photographer, who looked like an accountant)

RubyGates · 21/12/2012 19:28

It's just a fairly normal shade of dark plummy auburn. Not the lovely violetty purple on the box . I think if it fades, it will fade down to something pinkish.

Good luck with the interview
