So my IPhone started playing up, the battery charge not lasting, phone dying in the night having fully charged it a few hours earlier, the phone feeling hot to the touch etc so I took it to the Apple shop, they tried a few things but it was still happening so they gave me a lovely new shiny phone.
I happily went on my way, got home, charged up my shiny new phone and the same thing happens - last a few hours, dies in the night Hmm so I decide it must have been my charger and I go and purchase a new charger - and it's still happening!!!
What's going on?? I'm charging the phone fully, I'm closing all my apps, I don't have many apps on the phone as its only 2 days old, I'm clueless!!!

Can anyone tell me why my phone only lasts about four hours???

Too embarrassed to go back to Apple again!!!

Location services and using 3G not wifi drain an I phone badly, but your experience is very poor-especially as you have checked it's not your charger. Don't be embarrassed, you paid a lot of money for something that is not fit for purpose, ask for a new one or a solution.

To make my battery last a little longer, I switch off Bluetooth and turn down the brightness but not sure how much difference that makes. iPhones do have a poor battery but it should definitely be lasting longer than 4 hours

If I leave wifi enabled it drains my phone very, very quicly because of the constant network search it has to perform.

I turn that off and made sure that it went to a dark screen rather than a pretty picture for screensave mode (I have no idea how I managed that). And it solved the problem.

It still needs charging every night rather than once a week though.

I charge mine every night, sometimes it runs out earlier, but I use it a lot. I read books on it, send probably 20 or so texts a day and an hour or so of Internet use, so 4 hours does sound pretty piss poor tbh. The batteries aren't renown for being brilliant but they're not that bad. I'd be taking it back again and making apple sort it.

Maybe the store have a faulty batch? Definitely get it back to the shop. It should be performing better than that.

This is why iHate my iPhone.

Have you recently moved somewhere with very poor signal or changed providers?

In London my phone is fine, but when we go to stay with friends in the countryside it behaves as yours does - the signal is very poor and keeps dropping, and the phone expends energy searching for a 3G signal and is dead in a matter of hours. It also burns through my data allowance with the constant connecting/disconnecting...

Solution - switch off 3G until necessary or in a more heavily populated area, or switch providers.

Thanks for all the responses, going to go back to Apple with it

I'm on my 5th iphone from one purchase. I've had 2 in a week before. Did you load up/sync your iphone as a new phone or with the same info as your last one. Sounds like a bug and you have just added the bug to the new one. Go back to the shop - honestly this happens loads. If you are sync it from you laptop take that in with you and let them talk you through it so the problem doesnt happen again.
