to feel really sad?

Have just found out our much loved cat who moved in with us 6 months ago when he strayed into our garden has been run over and killed.
In view of the recent devastating shootings in US it feels ridiculous to mourn a cat.
Have been feeling so awful for those poor parents and have been thinking about them and their poor babies alot.
Just so bloody dreadful.

Thanks guys. Not going to tell my DS's. Think will say he has just strayed off again. Don't want to tell DP. He will be gutted. He loved that cat!

I think this is one of the reasons I'd never get a pet, there's so much emotional attachment. It's not ridiculous, those are your feelings. And yes, others may be going through hell right now, but you are still entitled to feel really sad about your cat.
Hope you feel better soon, but are you sure you won't tell the others?

Think I will tell DP as just wont be able not too. Especially as he has been out looking for him. Will leave it till he is back home though as he is away tonight.
Def wont tell DS's. Only 5 and 10 and I would have the 'things die' conversation but not at Christmas.

Sorry to hear about your cat. He was your pet and it is ok to be sad.

My mums dog was PTS this afternoon, I went with her its awful.

We lost our cat this summer. I told my ds(5) his cat had died, he was asking when he would be coming back from the vets. He still misses him it's so sad.
