Christmas at Butlins.....

Has anyone done Christmas at Butlins? We always spend Christmas with my Dh's family as mine are miles away in my home country. Our homes are too small for everybody so every year is very uncomfortable, and my DD (5) is the only child at Christmas so it is a bit lonely for her. I suggested next year we go to Butlins. No cooking/cleaning, everybody comfortable at the hotels and plenty of activities (instead of boring TV in-laws love and I hate so much), plus children around for dd to play with. AIBU?

I went to Butlins regularly as a child and loved it but then everything was included in the price. I've been twice as an adult and it's really expensive now. Having said that, the chalets are bigger now than when I was a child and there's more choice of accommodation.

I'd rather spend my time at Butlins than a caravan park.

Checked in :) Gold chalet this year. Lovely - clean & warm. Kids swimming with DH, all unpacked. Parking much closer than last year = much less stress at the start! Now drinking coffee & eating biscuits, bliss!!

Could you tell me if you went and if so did you all enjoy it? We went for the first time as a last minute holiday last year and all loved it and have been back again. Have just booked for Christmas for the same reasons you said. Not sure why some people are so negative.

Just to mention, Butlins seems to have had a massive overhaul.

We were there 2 weeks ago and it really isn't a shitty, chavvy caravan holiday park any more as I kept ranting on to DH while we were making our way there . Lovely restaurants, shops, facilities. Swimming pool was brilliant, as was the fairground. If you go to Bognor the Shorline hotel has been refurbished and completely aimed at children. Plenty of entertainment, for kids and adults.

It really has changed.
