To not come to the door to Cliff Richard

JoanByers · 18/12/2012 19:08

A very loud truck has just driven up the street, playing Mistletoe and Wine.

I can only imagine that they are from the Round Table or something, but I haven't looked too closely.

They have rung my bell.

I have ignored it, because I don't want to encourage the amplified playing of Cliff Richard in public.

AIBU?

Scrooge! YABU

Where's your Christmas spirit! You should be out donating.

MistletoeAndVino · 18/12/2012 19:14

YANBU, I always avoid enforced frivolity

WhoremoaneeGrainger · 18/12/2012 19:28

Where abouts roughly are you Joan? They usually come down my road but i havent heard them yet. I am in Dorset.

SantaWearsGreen · 18/12/2012 19:42

and if it were Cliff in person, impromptu carol singing?

rockinaroundthebadtasteflump · 19/12/2012 12:12

YABU - Cliff is for Christmas Smile

EllieArroway · 19/12/2012 12:16

Has anyone seen Cliff's new calendar? How old is he....75? The cover picture has him topless & tanned on a jet ski thing!

And no, I haven't bought it for myself. It just gave me a fright when I walked past it in Smiths Shock

Petsinmypudenda · 19/12/2012 12:21

Ellie that calander sounds horrific...blergh

MySweetPrince · 19/12/2012 12:23

Yabu - It's the Lions club - I was out with one of these Christmas floats over the week-end and got absolutely soaked. 3 hours of traipsing around in the freezing rain collecting for local charities...........If I can suffer Cliff, Boney M and bloody Paul Mcartney for 3 hours on a continuous loop for a good cause then it wouldn't hurt to go and wave at Father Christmas and drop a few pennies in the collecting tin.Xmas Grin

Crinkle77 · 19/12/2012 12:34

Where we live it is normally the rotary club who do this. It normally has santa on board and they are knocking to see if there are any children who would like to see him

picnicbasketcase · 19/12/2012 12:36

You are definitely not unreasonable. I was put right off my shopping in Tesco the other day due to the same monstrous ditty. It didn't so much fill me with good cheer as make me want to kick displays over.

strawberrypenguin · 19/12/2012 17:09

I loved this when I was a kid! Every year where my parents live the Salvation Army go round with Santa on a sleigh and give out lollipops (and ask for donations). They don't do it where I live now and I miss it.

strawberrypenguin · 19/12/2012 17:10

(Yanbu about Cliff though)

SantasNaughtySack · 19/12/2012 17:28

I don't think I've ever been sad about the lack of Cliff Richard playing sleds in my life before.
This is odd.

Binkyridesagain · 19/12/2012 17:42

I suffered the sleigh with its cheerful Christmas music on a loop for 3 hours, it wasn't moving and had no volume control.
I was very close to stuffing Santa with his microphone! My Christmas spirit left me that evening.
YANBU!

MurderOfGoths · 19/12/2012 17:47

YANBU!!

DO you know what was fucked up? Listening to a goth radio station last night and they played bloody Cliff!!! Seriously what the actual fucking fuck is that about?!
