To ask for first aid advice

i have just sliced pretty much all of my ?finger knuckle? Off on my first finger...I have washed, dried and applied a plaster but the blood is leaking through. Help please...

Er get medical help as soon as possible, why are you here and not in A&E!

Walk in centre or A&E but a bandage for now

Try walk in centre or MIU - you'll be back of the queue in A&E

Make a pad from clean cloth/kitchen roll/similar. Place over injury. Press HARD with other hand and keep pressing. Hold hand up HIGH. Continue for 10 minutes. Do not lower/release pressure. If still bleeding then A&E or minor injuries.

Also, don't take the bottom layer of the plaster/pad (touching the wound) off. If you bleed through a second later, then just replace second layer not the first. Keep all dressings used so medics have an idea of extent of blood loss.

Is your finger actually off? If so pack in ice and take it with you, they may be able to sew it back on to.

What Bore said - Lots of pressue on it and hold it above your heart - if it doesn't stop bleeding A&E and fast

Right I have bathed with savlon, put gauze and thin bandage to keep finger straight. As it will bleed if it bends.

I sliced through half of my finger knuckle skin, flap is still slightly attached. Had a little freak out as the flap was quite thick compared to what I've done before.

Thanks for the help and advice. Am usually very good with these things but apparentally not when it's me.
