To be out ALL day after my work Xmas lunch?

I work from home, with odd days in the office, usually at the weekend, and never for a full day - so I'm rarely away from DS apart from one morning a week when he attends nursery.

I've got the office Xmas lunch on Thursday and DH has the day off to look after DS (he's really looking forward to it and is already planning to take him to the usual toddlers group and shopping, and and... ). I will be going into the office for about 8am.

Thing is, I know my lunch will be done by about 2.30pm, and I usually come straight home.

WIBU to take the afternoon off - away from DS to finish the Xmas shopping (I may have had a few glasses of so won't get too stressed by the crowds!), sit and have a drink cup of coffee and read my book?

Not at all. Sounds like they have a full day planned anyway.

Absolutely not unreasonable

Went Christmas shopping drinking with friends on Saturday and it was brilliant. First child free day in months and I loved every second. Getting measured for a bra without DD telling the lady which boob produces tastier milk and being able to have wine with lunch was amazing

Oooh good. That's unanimous - I can tell DH that the powers of MNet have spoken!

I may also contemplate getting the bus back so that he doesn't have to drag DS out in the cold... and not at all for the fact that I can grab a coffee, and sit in peace for an hour reading my book and listening to my ipod!
