Agreed.

GlitterEncrustedTreeTopper · 17/12/2012 09:24

I concur.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 17/12/2012 09:25

Agreed. Especially as sweetcorn doesn't grow at this time of year in this country. (Mind you, neither do sat sumacs, but they never grow here at any time of year)

Oh yes I agree.

Are you by any chance doing your food shopping today Chao?

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 17/12/2012 09:25

FFS. Satsumas, not sat sumacs.

RobinsBaubleSparkles · 17/12/2012 09:28

YANBU but we have it with our Christmas dinner every sodding year because DH and the DCs love it Xmas Confused.

I just think that it looks ODD, although the children had Christmas dinner at school on Thursday and they had sweetcorn.

StNiChaolas · 17/12/2012 09:32

I thought you were dead powsh and eperimential then, OYBBK, pushing the boundarues of your Christmas Meal. Harrisa and umami sprouts, anyone? Grin

What makes you think that, Paschy? Wink

Artex, that is beyond the pale. My children will be eating firaged sassafras and samphire, picked from the cut in the morning dew. You need to up your veg ante, dontcha really?

What's really sad is that all the threads I have looked at today with interest have been food related. What does that say about me?

Xmas Grin oh I am chaos. I shall be having:

Gunpowder turkey. (Where you shove a firework up the turkeys bum, launch it from your garden, then hope the neighbour lets you retrieve it from their garden)
golden carrots with real gold leaf
Sprouts sprinkled with toasted truffles and drizzled with cuckoo spit.
Hand dug jedward potatoes, complete with rooted quiffs.
Steam engine Christmas pudding (cooked in the boiler of our local steam train) with crunchy coal bits.

I can't wait!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 17/12/2012 09:41

YABU. I love sweetcorn. Its yellow food that baffles the digestive system but it tastes so sweet. Whats not to love? :o

GrimmaTheNome · 17/12/2012 09:42

Oddly enough, the first green veg DD liked was samphire - but that doesn't go with gravy either Grin.

whomovedmychocolate · 17/12/2012 09:45

Sweetcorn with bread sauce actually does go. Weirdly. But no not with gravy.

StNiChaolas · 17/12/2012 09:48

I'm round your House then, OYBBK! But, no pudding for me, there's a dear.

Wink

Artex, 2013 could be YearOfThePea fir you DS.

It's definitely not Christmassy.

It goes great with leftovers, though.

TurkeyDino · 17/12/2012 09:53

I love sweetcorn and gravy. What's not to like? But I am having Thai Christmas dinner this year so no sweetcorn Angry

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 17/12/2012 11:14

at the Jedward potatoes!

Cezella · 17/12/2012 11:18

Sweetcorn is probably my favourite thing- it goes with everything, I put in in bolognese, shepherd's pie etc and it especially tastes yummy with gravy- that's possibly the best combination of all. It's the first veg I ensure I have to hand when dishing up roast dinner!

FryOneFatChristmasTurkey · 17/12/2012 11:24

Sweetcorn is DS's number one veg! (Followed by cabbage, unfortunately we get the benefit of the side effects.)

However, it will not be present for christmas dinner, in that I agree.

Sharksandfishes · 17/12/2012 11:32

We'll be having sweet corn.
But we will be eating our Christmas lunch on a beach just north of Sydney, so it's not going to be traditional anyway Grin

HazeltheMcWitch · 17/12/2012 11:36

We always have it too, demanded by DCs.
Have to say, it does look so bright and lovely on the table.

valiumredhead · 17/12/2012 13:15

We always always have sweetcorn and peas!

MammaTJ · 17/12/2012 13:18

I just don't get sweetcorn!! It cannot have any nutritional value surely. It comes out exactly the same as it goes in!!

Sweetcorn and gravy do not go either.
