Am I excessively planned?

Am I excessively weird for knowing what's happening every day between now and the 30th Dec?
DH thinks so. I think it's just normal at this time of year. I looked at booking a food delivery yesterday an apparently that was ott too.

MrsMushroom · 16/12/2012 10:14

I think that's excessive yes.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 16/12/2012 10:15

No I can understand it , particularly the food order.

Sirzy · 16/12/2012 10:15

If you have lots of then of course not.

I know what's happening every day for the next week simply because I have something on each day.

LynetteScavo · 16/12/2012 10:16

No, not at all.

McChristmasPants2012 · 16/12/2012 10:16

i think that excessive.

I haven't even locked in my christmas day plans yet :)

Wishfulmakeupping · 16/12/2012 10:20

No I'm normally like that too, this year are plans are much less as I'm expecting so not going here there and everywhere as per usual- its good to know what your meant to be doing

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 16/12/2012 10:22

I only just decided on plans for today this morning in bed. I know roughly what is happening this week, thats about it.

Imaginethat · 16/12/2012 10:22

Possibly, but I am the same. I even tried to talk it through with my ds age 5 but he just kept saying when is Thursday? Is it Christmas tomorrow? And unhelpful things like that...

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 16/12/2012 10:22

(Am 38 weeks pregnant though so we have flatly refused to confirm plans with anyone at all).

Theicingontop · 16/12/2012 10:23

I bet he'd change his tune if everything went to crap.

freddiefrog · 16/12/2012 10:33

It's pretty normal for us, for this time of year. Our calendar is full between now and after christmas and has been for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

DH and I both have things on, 2 kids of our own and a foster child over 2 different schools, activities with the local authority, plus meeting up with friends and family it soon fills up

EnjoyResponsibly · 16/12/2012 10:36

Totally normal. I too can tell you what I'm doing from now til 31st December. Then I plan an empty January especially until DS goes back to school so that he can enjoy all his new toys.

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 16/12/2012 10:47

I have quite a planned week, As we have DS's xmas party and nativity this week, and Im also having an ELCS on 21st requiring me to be admitted the PM of the 20th, so to get to the nativity (was not missing it!) and get the christmas main food shop done as well as keep things quite normal for DS things have had to be planned.
After this week though we only have plans for xmas eve (involving staying in more about the type of day we want), and xmas day.
We have invites for boxing day to family's homes (depending on how I'm feeling), but other than that no other plans. We will have plenty to eat in, but no plans.
I suppose if you have a lot of people to see or a lot to fit in, planning is necessary. Although even if it weren't YANBU as it doesn't hurt to have a plan!

rogersmellyonthetelly · 16/12/2012 10:54

Nope sounds normal to me. I have everything written on the planner in the kitchen otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what's going on and stuff would just get forgotten

Yama · 16/12/2012 11:03

Em, well I'm working and then it's Christmas and then it's Hogmanay.

Guess I know too, excessive bitch that I am.

OTheYuleManatee · 16/12/2012 11:04

I know where I am nearly every day. Not weird, just busy.

TheSitChewAceChien · 16/12/2012 11:07

Booking food delivery not OTT at all. In fact, they're mostly booked up from 22 dec, so if you're excessive, so's half the country Grin

Tailtwister · 16/12/2012 11:11

I don't think so. This is a busy time of year, especially if you have children. There are parties, nativity plays etc in the run up to Christmas, plus all the family stuff. I suspect your DH has no idea what goes into organising Christmas since you seem to have it all sorted.

We are the same, but DH has no idea. I just tell him the night before what's going on (unless he needs time off work for a nativity play or something) and he goes along with it. He has no idea the amount of work it takes to make it all happen.

kinkyfuckery · 16/12/2012 11:17

Not at all. We have so much going on this year that I like to know what each day consists of, so I don't miss anything important.

Dozer · 16/12/2012 11:18

If your Dh isn't keen on a food delivery, will he be the one fitting in the shopping?

Or will the magic elf bring it?

steppemum · 16/12/2012 11:19

we have a calendar. Everything that is happening has to be written on it or it doesn't happen. So when birthday invite etc arrives, I write it on calendar

So technically I do know what is happening, just not in my head - on paper
I did actually miss a friends silver wedding party because it wasn't on the calendar Blush

But calendar runs out on 31st december, so nothing is happening yet after then Grin

Labootin · 16/12/2012 11:20

i pretty much know what I'm doing all through the YEAR.

I don't see that as odd at all.

Certain thngs are fixed ie kids clubs, after school activities, sports matches, holidays and visitors (we have about six weeks worth booked already for 2013) so it makes sense. That way I can shoehorn in meetings for coffees, nights out , the dreaded playdates etc.

sawseesaw · 16/12/2012 11:33

Yes, Dozer, exactly! The elves get the shopping year round, just thought they could do with a break, what with kid, work, relatives, shopping, cooking, wrapping pressies!

OP posts:
gordyslovesheep · 16/12/2012 11:45

I know what we are doing - 2 house holds plus visiting relatives who live 2 hrs away I need to !

No I don't think you are odd at all x

SantaWearsGreen · 16/12/2012 11:46

Normal. I don't see what the issue is with being organised anyway Confused

I booked our Christmas food shop slot 2 weeks ago because last year and year before I made the mistake of leaving it until the 21st and all the online slots had gone so had to shop in store and it was a nightmare so I said never again.
