to think you cannot shotgun a person?

Girls night out last night. We bumped into another friend on his work Christmas do having drinks (there was maybe around 6 of them)

There was a guy in that group (never met him before) was really good looking, I'd had a bit to drink so was more confident than usual. Having a nice talk with him when mid-chat my friend (who had never met this guy before either) grabs my hand and pulls me away onto the dance floor and says that she wanted to get me away because she really likes this guy.

Am I wrong in thinking that just because you like someone doesn't mean you should shotgun them.

The guy gave me his number so he was interested, and if he wasn't then I would have moved on and carried on with my night.

Was she drunk? I'd have been pretty annoyed, TBH. He was chatting you up and you were enjoying the conversation when she dragged you off because she fancied him and was jealous. Tough titty, friend! If he'd wanted to chat her up he would have done so. Call him.

TheCortanaThatStoleChristmas · 16/12/2012 00:26

Call him! (YANBU)

LadyBeagleBaublesandBells · 16/12/2012 00:26

Ahh, so that's what shotgunning a person means.

deleted203 · 16/12/2012 00:28

lol...I'm old too. But I have teenagers. I believe shouting 'shotgun' is the equivalent of when we used to shout, 'baggsie!'

Tomorrowslookingfine · 16/12/2012 00:28

YANBU, you were having a conversation with him first! I agree with sowornout give him a call (and keep us updated Wink

SoleSource · 16/12/2012 00:29

So what? Just call him

elfbambinos · 16/12/2012 00:31

what does shotgunning mean?

quoteunquote · 16/12/2012 00:32

phone him.

ceeveebee · 16/12/2012 00:33

I thought shotgunning meant downing a bottle of alcopop in one. That is 10 years out of date Manchester slang anyway...

violetpurplerain · 16/12/2012 00:35

Shotgun is for example when you're walking to the car and whoever says shotgun first gets to sit in the front seat.

She was basically making a claim on him. That she liked him so didn't want me to talk to him.

We've been texting this morning and he's added me on fb. Got hurt really bad about 10 weeks ago so want to take things kind of slow.

nicer thing thing than I was thinking ceeveebe but I watch CSI and CRiminal minds

BOFingSanta · 16/12/2012 00:39

She sounds pretty juvenile. Still, you've got his number, so you're doing ok.

BOFingSanta · 16/12/2012 00:40

DP informs me that 'calling shotgun' is from US Rangers keeping their guns in the front passenger seat. So it's about baggsying that place in the car. Just in case it comes up on QI Xmas Grin

Whats the snide comment about the honda about?

I've seen this before on MN and it's always come across as very negative.

OP posts:
SantaIAmSoFuckingRock · 16/12/2012 00:55

tbh if she'd done that to me i would have told her to go right ahead and give it her best shot. if he had gone for her after seeing her do that then you dont want him anyway but if he had any brains he would have made it clear he wasn't interested in her and come back to talk with you. i'm not into fighting over men. if someone wants him then they can play their best card with my blessing if he wants me, he'll make sure it happens.

dont fret over it OP, she sounds about 15.

SantaIAmSoFuckingRock · 16/12/2012 00:56

never heard of the honda thing. what's that about?

BOFingSanta · 16/12/2012 01:02

We had a troll invasion earlier from some blokes off a Honda forum, that's all.

violetpurplerain · 16/12/2012 01:12

But it was a comment that said 'your honda'

Is that saying that I am a troll then?

OP posts:
elfbambinos · 16/12/2012 01:14
