ive spent the last 24 hours cleaning and have thrown away our chaning mat, baby monitors and taken all the old muslins/terry nappys and put them away for washing the dog1 my babies are no longer babies infact theyre not even toddlers, ive been left behind and have to accept new year new routine, new clubs new challenges!

choc - thanks i know its soppy but time really flies by and i just keep running to stand still now ive stood still its just amazing these little babies dribbling pooing and crying have changed developing into their own little personalities, just get the feeling the wont neeed me soon.

any body else particularly sentimental over a memory?

Aww, time does fly! My PFB is 18 today!

Today the shop delivered a single bed for my DS2. The cot/cotbed will be taken down tomorrow. The toddler bedding put away to make room for his proper bed. I will cry as I have loved their cot /cotbed.

It's the last bit of 'baby equipment' in daily use. But he's not a baby anymore. He's a tantrumming stubborn gorgeous 4 yr old.

MsElle - I cant even imagine that, legal for so many things!!! im thinking of taking my darlings and heading off into the wilderness and hiding them away from the rest of the world - think the village (film) or a convent

Dubbada his present from us is a post A level lads holiday to Malia! I know where he is staying and when he is going, I don't want to know anything else!

He wants a tattoo his poor, gorgeous body!.

He passed his driving test on Wednesday so is driving my car to work tomorrow! Thank God he has work tomorrow, apparently New Year's Eve is going to be messy!

I miss doing crafty things with the DCs when they were little.
Every Christmas I used to get them both to make a calendar for various older relations. Now, they don't even bother writing cards for their classmates...
But this year DD (16) has warmed my heart by reminiscing about things from past christmases eg dancing to a particular CD with her little brother while I hang up the paper chains, wrestle with getting stuff out of the loft etc and saying how our best advent calendar is the (ancient) tree-shaped,fabric one with the decorations in pouches that you fasten to the tree. DS and her still take it in turns.
And she hoped that now she's 16 she's not too old for a stocking.

Aww- but there are all sorts of new things to love!

How about:

• having a handbag sized handbag!! (instead of a huge rucksack, filled with nappies, spare clothes, snacks etc)
• I recently swapped my mummy-mobile for a small car. Which all my dc can get into by themselves and strap themselves in- happy days!!!
• getting them to help with you with the tidy-up!
• watching them develop as their own little people, and feeling so proud of them

Older children are even better than babies! They still have so much enjoyment to bring.

Yes, your DCs become good company. I love it when they have a crowd of friends round (despite the mess and the noise).
You can have a lie in at the weekend.
Go places without a massive amount of kiddy-kit.
And they definitely still need you.......
