I struggle with my weight and it doesn't help that I was out of work for 2 years with depression, so comfort eating a lot of junk food. I've got myself a temporary job for Christmas and since middle of October I've lost one stone, without even trying.

AIBU to be insanely happy about it?? I just hope that come christmas eve when my job finishes, I won't put it all back on again.

Congratulations. How did you do it? I'm still struggling with baby weight.

theoriginalandbestrookie · 09/12/2012 09:20

Brilliant that is wonderful

RightUpMyRue · 09/12/2012 09:21

YANBU at all! Well done Smile

MerryChristmasEverybody · 09/12/2012 09:21

Thanks! Probably the fact I'm not eating proper meals as my shifts are ridiculous (9 hour days, 2pm to 11pm most days and with only one hour break means I'm not eating much!) and walking what feels like miles a day (huge shop). I'm sure it will all pile back on.

Well done its a great feeling- hope its a clothes shop where you can buy new smaller clothes at a discount! Grin

Latara · 09/12/2012 09:24

Well done, good for you :)

Fakebook · 09/12/2012 09:26

Yeah I lost a lot of weight when I was working similar hours a day and was walking around a lot too. Can I suggest you keep yourself hydrated and take some multivitamins too with meals. I made myself really ill not eating on time. Ended up with loads of deficiencies and suffered miscarriages as a result.

streakybacon · 09/12/2012 09:36

Well done Grin. I've done the same since summer and it's a fab feeling, isn't it? And it IS an achievement to be proud of. I've found that a few more weeks of maintaining after I'd lost the weight has been really beneficial. I can now have the occasional normal meal without my weight fluctuating - I've stabilised to my new 'normal', which is lovely.

Keep up the good work Grin.

SundaeGirl · 09/12/2012 09:38

Well done!

Groovee · 09/12/2012 10:36

Well done, weight loss is hard work and I've lost 1st 11lb's since July. Keep up the good work x

sudaname · 09/12/2012 10:45

Dont be negative about it all going back on. That is entirely in your hands, it is not a pre-emptive conclusion by any means. Put something in place beforeyour job ends to replace all the walking you are doing now and stick to the mealtimes you have now. Well done you - and you can stay like this.

MunchMunch · 09/12/2012 10:54

Well done.

Last year I lost 3st and I felt amazing sadly I've put it all back on including another 2st! I really don't suit being over weight.

Don't let that happen to you. Losing weight was the best thing I ever done for myself and putting it back on was the worst. I'm gutted but looking at my smaller clothes has spurred me on especially after a few nights out where I can't find anything to wear knowing not long ago I could find something nice from a "normal" shop.

FolkElf · 09/12/2012 11:59

Well done you!

I've lost 22lb since the summer and it feels fantastic! I'm so enjoying wearing all the stuff I'd grown out of.

I agree you need to break the habit of comfort eating. I had a friend who had bulimia many years ago and I went with him to a counselling session. He was told that the craving for food/a binge lasts for 20 mins and that if you can distract yourself for that time, you will have a fair amount of time until the next one. It doesn't just get worse and worse.

If you think the walking has helped, keep that up afterwards.

You amazing lady! Well done, enjoy the slinky clothes and the admitting (and envious!) looks!

fragola · 09/12/2012 17:07

Brilliant, enjoy looking fabulous!

littlewhitebag · 09/12/2012 17:27

Congratulations on your loss! I have lost 2 st since May and i am ecstatic but when i lose weight i always seem to put it back on. This time i am determined this will not happen. I am not getting any younger and it yes harder and harder to lose weight as you get older.

BikeRunSki · 09/12/2012 18:01

Yey! Well done, it feels fab doesn't it? I've lost 1st 6 since the end of September and have half a chance of getting back into my work clothes after Mat Leave when I return to work in January. I still need to lose a stone though, ideally. Be worried about going back.to work - very sedentary job, not opportunity for long pram walks.

MerryChristmasEverybody · 09/12/2012 18:18

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful, positive comments!

Congratulations! A stone is a great achievement. Hopefully that positive feeling will deter you from getting back into the comfort eating cycle. Maybe you should be asking Father Christmas for some nice clothes to show off your loss :)
