For being utterly p*ssed off with Nationwide?

Exp and I started a joint account, I was with Nationwide before and they assured me it would be no trouble to transfer all DD's over for utilities etc.
2 months later and I apparently have no house insurance - bank tell me to call my insurance company and explain "there was a mistake" and there should be no problem with continuing my cover. Bit miffed but do it and all ok.

Ex becomes an ex and I go back in to bank asking them to move all DD's back to my original account (with same bank). Lady at cashier desk does this in front of me and I have to sign for the 8 items being swapped over "for their records".

One month later and today I have had a letter from my Council to say they couldn't recieve Nov's tax and have now upped next months payment, my water company saying they have had the DD cancelled and now Nationwide itself saying they will charge me for £49.75 for a debit that couldn't be taken from my account...for THEM!

Tearing my hair out as have so much else going on healthwise and just feeling I can't deal with this right now. Managed to fill out the postal form for council tax and post it earlier but was on hold to speak to someone with n.wide for 12mins earlier and could feel myself dissolving, so I hung up.

Now the anger is back. How, wise MNer's would you resolve this situation? AIBU to be angry?

YANBU at all. Fwiw, Natwest have done similar to me in the past.

I would try to sort it out in branch. Do you know the woman's name, the one you dealt with last time?

AntsMarching · 07/12/2012 19:11

I'd go into the branch and tell them, not ask, that I wasn't paying a fine. I've had this before and if you state it as a fact, they rarely push back. If they do, outline what has happened, how it is their screwup and if they can't fix it you'll take your account elsewhere.

Should I ask to see the Manager? I have no idea what her name was sadly. I don't like causing a fuss but worried if I go back to cashier I will get paled off again.

If you don't want to wait until Monday you can ring Nationwide 24 hours a day. Speak to an adviser, get their name and don't ring off until you have a definite assurance that a) they admit liability and b) have a plan of action to reimburse you and get everything back on track. Oh thank you! Much better idea to get it out of the way ASAP and saves me a trip into town and ques. Thank you Xmas Smile
