Now i know Royal Mail are extremely busy this time of year but my postman didnt turn up til 3:40pm today!

And even throughout the rest of the year he doesnt turn up til after dinner time.

AIBU to think its a bit of a piss take? Im always missing parcels because of it. Sick of getting those red cards

I love our posties, they are always helpful and friendly but it still irritates me that I am home all day till 3pm and still have to end up going into town to sign for parcels sometimes.

It's not their fault and I would ne er say anything but that doesn't make it any less irritating.

yuleheart · 07/12/2012 18:38

Between 12-2 for us.

Heres a question - who gives their postman a christmas tip ? (apart from us )

JustFabulous · 07/12/2012 18:41

OP, I can beat that. Ours came at 4.10pm. Waited about 4 seconds then left! DS was in, he could have taken it. The neighbour was in. I thought that was what they were doing now if the recipient wasn't in.

He put a card through saying we have to wait 48 hours before going to get it now but can get it redelivered in 48 hours Confused. Not the usual service.

Dead69Girl · 07/12/2012 18:41

Dead69Girl · 07/12/2012 18:42

Myliferocks · 07/12/2012 18:43

During the week our post comes anytime between 2pm and 4.
On a sat it arrives 10 am on the dot.

JustFabulous · 07/12/2012 18:44

I am a little confused how Saturday's post is always much earlier than a weekday.

trueblood1fan · 07/12/2012 18:45

i tip my postie at xmas- he is fabby - he will always deliver to my home or my business address as im always at one. i feel for people who expect a platinum service at a bronze price but does make me chuckle that op worries about mail delivery times when some poor girl commited suicide tonite. so get a grip luvey & tip your postie :-\

nokidshere · 07/12/2012 18:46

I tip the postie Grin

JustFabulous · 07/12/2012 18:47

Snap Myliferocks!

Lavenderhoney · 07/12/2012 18:47

Our postie is lovely:) he doesn't mind the dc shouting " it's potsman pat" and he always puts on a show of rummaging in his bag for them, and asking them if they see his cat jess to send her home:)

He comes mid morning, or thereabouts. It's very annoying this time of year as they have relief workers and although they are nice, it's him we see all year and its him we want to give a present to. So now we give him a box of chocolates at the beginning of dec.

Dead69Girl · 07/12/2012 18:48

trueblood what do you give him as a tip?

im stuck on what to get/give mine

trueblood1fan · 07/12/2012 18:59

i always give him a bottle of wine & choccies as he makes a special effort to make sure i rec my parcels but have no problem paying to have them redirected toy village postoffice - i class that as a luxury :-)

Dead69Girl · 07/12/2012 19:15

thank you trueblood mine is lovely too and really does go the extra mile for me, so i think chocs and wine :)

trueblood1fan · 07/12/2012 19:16

would love to give money but never know how much is too little!

Dead69Girl · 07/12/2012 19:23

that was my problem and my postman older so i want sure, i dont know if he would like a real ale or wine,

ShitShoveller · 07/12/2012 19:36

My postie is lovely she always smiles and speaks to ds1. The one we had to cover when she was off was v. yummy so best of both and i don't care what time my post arrives when they're out there in all weather on icy ungritted paths facing other peoples dogs.

ShitShoveller · 07/12/2012 19:38

YABU.

yuleheart · 08/12/2012 19:04

We give him £10.
He always passes the time of day with us, he always fusses over the dogs (who wait for his van turning up then rush to the door and are quite disappointed when he doesn't have to knock) and we have an arrangement with the parcels that need signing for if we are not in, plus if he knocks and we don't answer and the dogs don't bark he looks out for us walking the dogs on the rest of his round.

Ours has never come in the morning.
And sometimes they save it for a few days and deliver it all on one day.

agedknees · 08/12/2012 19:09

Fewer posties doing more work.

YABU.

laptopdancer · 08/12/2012 19:10

WE never seem to have the same postman either...always different guys nf sometimes courier companies.

laptopdancer · 08/12/2012 19:11

Im a bit Shock that people have the one postie.

WelshMaenad · 08/12/2012 20:23

My regular postie is an absolute gem. I give him wine and home made biscuits or fudge for Xmas. They're not all fantastic though. One if the relief efforts is an actual twat and I had to complain about him stuffing a parcel durn the back of my food recycling bin. When I was home. When pulled up on it he tried to claim I'd asked him to. We also had another relief postman, and I couldn't understand shy the post was suddenly 2 hours later every day, till I realised he was taking a 15 minute break every time he drove to a new street, to read a magazine. FFS.
