AIBU to love Black Tower?

I suspect I may be told that I am. I really enjoy wine, I normally spend around £10-£11 on a New Zealand white, but nothing hits the spot like a Black Tower Pinot Grigio (especially when it's down to £4)

Do they still make Black Tower? I didn't know. I really don't see what it matters how much you spend on a wine that you enjoy drinking, everyone has different tastes. Xmas Smile Wine

Why shouldn't you drink what you like? Enjoy it! I wouldn't care what anyone else thought if I enjoyed something particularly. Clearly you are not alone in enjoying it otherwise it would not still be on the market - is it German? I can see the bottle in my mind but not tried it myself xxx

MalkieFraserFir · 04/12/2012 18:27

Yes, it is German. I am far from a wine snob, but have always assumed it's up there with Blue Nun for poking fun at.

Yes you are, next!

lovemydogs · 04/12/2012 18:31

Not YANBU - what if I preferred Mellow Birds or Maxwell House to Costa or Nero? - if I like it that is what matters - you enjoy your Black Tower. x

I live slap bang in the middle of the largest wine growing area in Germany. There are some fantastic wines around here, but Black Tower is NOT on the radar. It is an anodyne mixture. However, wine is very personal and if you like it that is fine. Yet I find it hard to believe it is labelled as Pinot Grigio, round here it would be a Grauburgunder.
Happy quaffing!

Only wine I drink! The rose is lovely

Mrsjay · 05/12/2012 08:52

I once got very very drunk on black tower a few years ago havn't been able to look at it since, but tbh if you like it drink it . i like Blossom hill and echo falls hardly a good wine are they Xmas Smile

RichTeas · 05/12/2012 11:00

So why do you normally spend £10-11 on an NZ white when you are perfectly happy with the £4 wine? Doesn't make sense.

Lilaclily · 11/12/2016 10:23

So to regift it as a secret santa present would be a shite gift ?

ratspeaker · 11/12/2016 11:40

YANBU

If you like it drink it.
Black Tower and Blue Nun had their trendy moment late 70s early 80s but like shoulder pads and big hair everyone likes to look back to point and laugh forgetting we rather enjoyed it all at the time.

Crispbutty · 11/12/2016 11:45

I like German wine,I also love Mateus rose too.

Lilaclily · 11/12/2016 12:44

Thanks that is reassuring I may put it in the secret santa then Xmas Smile

maddiemookins16mum · 11/12/2016 12:50

I used to like Blu Nun etc (in the 80's), I think however my taste buds have changed as I find it/and all Rose wine too sweet. I tend to stick to Sav Blanc now, even Chardonney is too sweet for me now.
YANBU though, everyone likes different things.

LaurieMarlow · 11/12/2016 12:54

If you like it, that's all that counts, crack on!!!
