To be utterly disgusted with Starbucks

and I will never buy another thing from them as long as I live. Instead of cutting wages and benefits why not put a penny on all coffees? Total wankers.

Yup, their business practices are even more bitter than their coffee. Crappy old Charbucks.

LadyMetroland · 04/12/2012 06:26

Yanbu
I'm planning to avoid from now on too

KinkyDoritoWithJingleBellsOn · 04/12/2012 06:50

YANBU Taking away first day of sick pay, and not paying for breaks. It's a bit shitty when it is already a low paid job and they've managed it in the past. Interestingly, they plan to pay more tax. Have no idea where they are going to get the money for that from... Hmm Hmm Hmm Avoiding from now on too.

diddlediddledumpling · 04/12/2012 06:56

Have always hated them. Apart from the corporate yuckness, their cappucino is mostly froth. What I hate most is the way the staff look at you if you don't speak their stupid language (I refuse to ask for grande, you twats.)
Please find a local cafe to give your money to instead. There are lots about and the coffee is so much nicer.

ipswichwitch · 04/12/2012 06:58

I think the government really need to change the laws allowing companies like this to get away with not paying the tax they should (yes google and amazon, I'm looking at you too).
As long as these loopholes exist they will be taken advantage of. Pretty disgusting to effectively make you employees pay for the extra tax though.

There's a large number if companies with shitty practices that screw over their workers. I was employed by a department store that had a policy of keeping staff on a 3 month rolling contract- even ones that they put through the graduate training programme with intention of keeping them as permanent like me. This meant you effectively weren't permanent on paper so you got no staff benefits, paid sick leave, paid breaks etc. hardly a way to inspire staff loyalty - I fucked off the first chance I got.

SomersetONeil · 04/12/2012 07:05

It's not exactly a hardship to get your coffee elsewhere though, is it? Their coffee is shit. Coffee-flavoured milk, if I'm being generous. I'd as soon have Baldrick brew me a cup... Xmas Envy

I am rather proud of my resident city - a Starbucks had to close down here for lack of customers. There are way too many places here that offer good coffee, that no-one in the right minds would actually choose Starbucks.

HairyGrotter · 04/12/2012 07:21

I haven't been in a Starbucks for a while, and I don't intend on going into one either, mainly because of their practices, but also because it's overpriced shite I can get at a local café for a fraction of the price.

Arseholes they are!

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 04/12/2012 07:39

Never go into Starbucks anyway. Their drinks are shite. Caffe Nero much better if we're going for a chain.

SucksToBeMe · 04/12/2012 07:40

They won't be getting my bucks anymore, that's for sure.
