Oh I know I am really, but bunch of bloody bastards Xmas Angry

Bought something that was completely the wrong fit & tried to return it for my money back. Apparently they don't do this - you can exchange or get a gift card. My fault - it was the first time I have ever set foot in the place & tbh their exchange policy was visible at the till.

However, have just tried to buy the correct item on line & the website DOES NOT ACCEPT GIFTCARDS. WTAF?

I am very annoyed about this. This means I have to return to their jumble sale of 'shop' & speak to someone about ordering the correct item I wish to purchase. (bet they don't do that either..fumes)

So basically I was. Bloody unreasonable to even enter the door. Bah.

it is what it is.....
tell you what though, I used to go to Lillywhites as a teenager, and love the poshness of it, check out the equestrian stuff etc., imagine my disappointment some years ago when I visited and found it was just a giant fucking SportsWorld!!

GrannyRatAteAllTheMincePies · 03/12/2012 20:47

Ah yes, their returns policy is shite. I made that mistake once and won't give them my money now which is a shame as they are cheap.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2012 20:49

I went into the local store and asked for a football 'linesman's flag' today, I know they sell them, i have seen them in there before. Shop bloke didn't know what one was. Confused

I keep getting those giant mugs free when ordering online too. Hmm

plus3 · 03/12/2012 20:52

I'm exactly the same granny - can't bear the idea of having to give them any more money. I know no boys who are into sports wear.

I want a very specific t-shirt? Do you think they will order it for me to collect? (or is that wishful thinking??)

plus3 · 03/12/2012 20:54

We end up with those mugs in the school tombola! Nobody wants them then either Xmas Grin

I hate the place too. Staff are disinterested and lazy and the place looks like a sporting jumble sale.

Went in our local one the other week for a fluorescent running jacket for DD which they have in their catalogue but I wanted to see the size of it first. Couldn't find one so asked a passing member of staff where I could find the running section to be met with the reply "I don't know, I only work here".

I wasn't quick enough to respond but left the shop laughing and moaning like one of these grumpy old women. DS wants a voucher for them for Christmas so another visit looming I think.

littlewhitebag · 03/12/2012 21:04

I ordered a sports bag for DH and got the free giant mag plus a catalogue. DD and i spend a fantastic hour laughing our asses off at the chavtasticness at all the stuff in it!

GrimmaTheNome · 03/12/2012 21:05

Yes, you're being very unseasonable, good place to pick up odds and ends as pressies. Xmas Grin

plus3 · 03/12/2012 21:09

True! I did get speedo swimming googles for the DC for £3.49. I couldn't have done that in John Lewis

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 03/12/2012 21:10

Yabu. There is a reason it's cheap as chips.

mrskeithrichards · 03/12/2012 21:11

It's a fucking nightmare of a shop. I have no idea how they get away with the shop being so crammed you can barely walk through it.

FutureNannyOgg · 03/12/2012 21:13

I got my coat from them , online, didn't get th mug. I wanted the mug si I could complain about being sent an unwanted mug. Bastards.

EauRouge · 03/12/2012 21:13

I was annoyed at the cost of the p&p, presumably this is to cover the cost of the catalogue and giant mug that I didn't ask for or want. I gave the mug to the yodel delivery fella and he seemed genuinely pleased.

safflower · 03/12/2012 21:13

I ordered rugby skins. Got torn box, inside out and screwed up skins, wrong size and to top it all the bloody fucking grey security tag. i wanted age 13, got 7.

The trouble to get a free delivery return, had to ring a number given by a local shop of sports direct but finally got a full refund. Dont think they could argue much. Got the bag for life and catalogue with my order. load of shite.

plus3 · 03/12/2012 21:19

But outraged...they are being unreasonable in making me a snob. I totally resent them for this.

Zippylovesgeorge · 03/12/2012 21:24

Hate hate hate them - however we have to visit occasionally to buy trainers for teenage males. Visited the other week and for once got trainers that came from the stock room rather than the mountain of boxes in the shop.

Teen tried them on and they fitted - hurrah. Back in box and I went to wander to the till with them - no can't do that - someone has to carry the box to the till for me?????

Zippylovesgeorge · 03/12/2012 21:24

Apparently - its company policy - wtf?? Xmas Confused

Meglet · 03/12/2012 21:41

Yanbu. I have no patience for SD anymore.

Nightmare shop, too messy and cramped. I simply can't be arsed to rummage.

LibrarianByDay · 03/12/2012 22:24

YANBU ... but they do sell verruca socks which is more than I can say for Sainsbury's pharmacy, Tesco's pharmacy, our local independent pharmacy, Boots, Superdrug ...

beachyhead · 03/12/2012 22:28

No you can't order there and have it delivered to the shop. We made that mistake once! Dd1 had chosen some Vans but wasn't quite sure, so I bought her a voucher. Went back to get them, store didn't have them, wouldn't order them and I couldn't use the voucher... Stuffed.

beachyhead · 03/12/2012 22:29

Sorry, couldn't use the voucher on the website....

morethanyoubargainfor · 03/12/2012 22:30

Try going in there in a wheelchair! It's the worse place for us disabled customers. Sadly I have been in there for one of the boys christmas pressies, he is football mad

dementedma · 03/12/2012 22:34

Its cheap for a reason. Watched Ds walking to school in his new fabby boots reduced from £50 which I can't afford, to £20 which I can, and felt very happy. Not everyone can afford John Lewis.

the carrying the shoes to the till is a company policy to make their customer service look good.

My local one is a 2 storey shop with the kids stuff UPSTAIRS AND NO LIFT - hmm how can I look At baby and kids stuff when I got a pushchair?
