To have the urge to...

Suck out the contents of my poorly baby's nose and spit them into a hanky?

Have a strange animalistic urge to make him more comfortable...

He has a chesty cough and is sneezing with much 'produce'.

Sorry for 'euch' factor.

Reaching for Olbas Oil in the interim...

I vomited (I did) on the train wehn a woman did this.

jeez, infact I feel queezy just thinking about it

NotInMyDay · 02/12/2012 22:04

I don't see why you wouldn't. You just grew your baby in your body. Sucking snot is nothing.

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 02/12/2012 22:04

VOMITS Envy

I think you should probably ask MN to change the title so people don't have to read that. Sorry, but no matter how lovely your intention is, it's just vile.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 02/12/2012 22:04

I have a contraption that enables one to do just that, but with no snot entering the mouth! For the mean time, he's your baby and if you're comfortable with it, do it! (I don't think I would but he can't do it himself so def needs help!)

RoffleCopter · 02/12/2012 22:05

I've had an actual cunt of a hangover all day. I have managed not to do a sick on myself all day.

Your post is about to reverse that hard won battle. Sad

Why don't you get a bogey sucker? Like this

wannabedomesticgoddess · 02/12/2012 22:05

Im having a similar urge at this very moment.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 02/12/2012 22:05

Ps. Not on a train though! Hmm

Cyclefaster · 02/12/2012 22:05

There is a mucus extractor you can buy in which you do suck the 'product' out of your babies nosethrough a small plastic tube.! I'm with you though. Or saline drops can help loosen it? Hope you have a settled night! 😚

Catsize · 02/12/2012 22:11

Sorry Chipping.

Funny that people are actually suggesting I do it. Just thought I was being usual slightly odd self.

The train story is incredible though!

The 'I have carried him for nine months' thing was kind of my logic too. Although I would not eat everything he produces. :-/

Do it Cat.You won't feel at all nauseus.I only did it once ( 36 years ago ) but I remember how it eased my babies congestion.DH also did it with our next child and has lived to tell the tale < again and again > :)

babbas · 02/12/2012 22:40

Omg. Ashamed to say I tried this. Once. But it was really hard to do Abd only tried as bubba was struggling to breathe. It's impossible to do, and my giggling whilst trying to get mahoosive lips on teeny tiny nostrils did not work!!!

Pilgit · 02/12/2012 22:40

In some cultures this is totally a non issue and they do it readily. But you can get a nasal aspirator from the chemist that does the same think but means your mouth doesn't have to come into contact with snot..... however if you're comfortable with it - do it.

bondigidum · 02/12/2012 23:55

I second the snot sucker. We got one when DD was sick, tis wonderful.

Can't say it ever even entered my mind to suck the snot myself but if you feel comfortable doing it then go for it..

Reminds me of the reaction Alicia Silverstone got when she chewed her baby's food and spat it into his mouth.
