Of course! Eustace! She Became A Cripple and Mended Her Ways.

MissAnnersley · 23/05/2013 18:13

Eustacia of the Chalet School is one of my favourite books.

Mary Lou really got on my nerves though.

Poledra · 23/05/2013 18:17

Are you allowed to sat that about one of your Head Girls, MissAnnersley? Grin

Poledra · 23/05/2013 18:17

say that, of course.

MissAnnersley · 23/05/2013 18:20
Grin

I like to think that Miss A was grinding her teeth while Mary Lou was busy being so worthy all over the place.

HesterShaw · 23/05/2013 18:22

My fave is Exploits of the Chalet Girls when Evadne blows up the lab. Or the one when they escape from the Nazis and Bill's chestnut hair turns white in an instant.

MissAnnersley · 23/05/2013 18:25

I love Evadne and Cornelia. They had some gumption and weren't worthy all the live long day.

FINE HER! I bet you have used spiffing and topping today as well.

MissAnnersley · 23/05/2013 18:31

I'll bet a gin or two was taken in the staff room after some of the half term trips.
I love this thread.

MissAnnersley · 23/05/2013 18:33

Oh, I've been spiffing on and off all day. I may even have uttered a top hole for good measure.

HesterShaw · 23/05/2013 18:36

Cornelia Flower - what a fab name. Didn't she and Evadne use the phrase "rubbernecked sneak" quite a lot?

Can you imagine if one of tge Chalet girls had used the word "cunt"?

NorthernLurker · 23/05/2013 18:37

1/2 term trips - like the one where Len was arrested as a shoplifter or when the whole of lower 6th were nearly flattened by an avalanche (that they were able to out-run...Hmm) or Miss Wilson breaking her ankle and the whole party getting snowed in or that wretched child falling in the lily ponds and Carola jumping in after her or Miss Ferrars nearly falling off the glacier......................

Weegiemum · 23/05/2013 18:50

Thank you to the people who sent me PDFs. I have done precisely nothing all day except read Jo of the Chalet School

Weegiemum · 23/05/2013 18:50

and drink gin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 23/05/2013 18:53

I have shamelessly begged several of you for electronic copies.

I went to the library recently to see if I could borrow a copy or two only to find out they've all been binned or put in long term storage. heinous!

MissAnnersley · 23/05/2013 18:55

When I was at school I would go to the library on a Saturday and take out four Chalet School books. They were the old hard backs that my mum remembers taking out of the library too as a girl. It is such a shame that these books are being hidden away or thrown out.

Lifeisontheup · 23/05/2013 19:01

I want a whole set now. >
I used to have all of them but they fell apart and I got rid of them when I left home. Sad

HesterShaw · 23/05/2013 19:05

I have no idea what happened to mine. They were falling apart when I bought them from jumble sales in the 80s

Weegiemum · 23/05/2013 19:06

STDG please message me.

We could have a great chat and plus, you have chalet books I don't.

I make good soup!

thefuturesnotourstosee · 23/05/2013 19:08

Given the price of the old hardbacks now I'm surprised the libraries aren't putting them on ebay to raise funds. Storing them away where no one can read them is beyond heinous.

Kveta · 23/05/2013 19:19

So nice to see other fans!

I had almost the whole set once, but my parents made me cull my book collection, so I jettisoned the lot :(

I would LOVE some electronic copies, if anyone could send me some? Can't do PMs from the tablet, but will try and send some from the laptop later :)

mikkii · 23/05/2013 19:36

I suggested Cornelia as a name for DD1, DH didn't go with it unfortunately. I suggested it again for DD2. Closest I got was Amelia as DD2's middle name, but that was or my great grandma.

Holliewantstobehot · 23/05/2013 20:02

I also blame the chalet school books for my decision to study french and german at uni!
